“Why?”

“Yeon Do-jin is just a madman. Nothing good comes from getting involved with him.”

“But… he’s still the guildmaster of the top-ranked guild in the country.”

Choi Tae-hyuk shook his head.

“Yeon Do-jin hates being ordered around. That’s why he created his own guild and scouted high-ranked Hunters until it became number one. Since he was born into wealth, recruiting them was child’s play.”

“Born into wealth?”

“He’s the second son of S Group.”

What—S Group? The conglomerate world-famous for everything from daily necessities to media and electronics?

And Yeon Do-jin is their second son? Now that I think about it, the chairman’s surname was Yeon.

“The Kanghyeon Guild reached number one thanks to S Group’s massive support. It’s also the reason Yeon Do-jin’s messes get covered up so easily.”

So the rumors about the Hunter Association being behind him must have really been thanks to S Group.

Even if the Association wanted to sanction him, they couldn’t move carelessly with S Group backing him.

“Avoid Yeon Do-jin as much as possible.”

I nodded.

I might be able to rival S Group with money, somehow—but not in social status or connections.

‘Best to stay away from him, just like Choi Tae-hyuk said.’

“Guildmaster! You’re back early!”

On the way back, Choi Tae-hyuk went down to the basement, saying he was going to train.

Left alone, I headed to the guildmaster’s office, where Gumiho greeted me while watching TV.

On screen were Hunter police cars, fire trucks, and the dungeon surrounded by fences.

The flames swayed as if dancing with the smoke.

“How was the guildmaster meeting?”

How was it? A complete disaster.

It wasn’t even a real meeting, and I barely managed to talk to anyone.

The only things I came away with were the defensive ring now on my thumb—and the fact that Choi Tae-hyuk and Yeon Do-jin had known each other before.

Since I couldn’t explain everything, I gave a vague answer.

“The Fire Dungeon broke out, so the meeting ended early.”

“Well, it was S-rank. That explains it.”

“Who went inside?”

“Guildmaster Yeon Do-jin of Kanghyeon Guild went in personally.”

Of course. He’d tried to drag me along, but I refused.

If it’s Yeon Do-jin, flame frogs won’t be any trouble.

No—knowing him, he’d toy with them first before killing them. He’s a madman who fights for fun.

“Why not go upstairs and rest? What brings you here?”

“I’ve got some things to think about. Where’s Yun-seo?”

“She’s in her room playing with Bom. Oh, by the way—the Awakening Center called.”

“What did they say?”

“They said the registration deadline is approaching.”

“Ah.”

If a minor awakened at an Awakening Center, it had to be reported within a month. There was still plenty of time left, but they were probably rushing us because Ji Yun-seo was S-rank.

“I’m not planning to rush it.”

“Why not?”

“She’s still a minor. Registering her as a Hunter won’t change anything right now.”

“The fine for registering late is one thing, but worse—you could get saddled with a bad reputation.”

I leaned back in my chair. Fame wasn’t my goal, so a little bad reputation didn’t bother me…

But Gumiho, seeing my face, spoke firmly.

“Forget that way of thinking. If the guild gets a bad name, Hunters won’t want to join.”

Scratching my head awkwardly, I nodded.

“Alright, we’ll register her first.”

“When will you do it?”

“A bit later.”

Gumiho nodded, seemingly satisfied, and left the office. I pulled out paper and a pen.

I’d been thinking about it for a while now, but in my memory, the Fire Dungeon had only broken out four years later.

There was no way I’d misremembered. I wasn’t human, but a transcendent being—a god.

Besides, the Ant Nest dungeon had appeared exactly as I remembered.

I wrote down the dungeon outbreak timelines in the language of the gods, so no one else could read them.

Starting with the Ant Nest, around ten dungeons appeared at two-year intervals, then annually, then every six months. It wasn’t just our country—it happened all over the world.

The outbreaks kept accelerating, until eventually they appeared once a month. Respawn cycles sped up too, overwhelming the existing Hunters.

I had always thought that was the signal of the world’s end. So why was it happening even earlier?

“Corne…what the hell is that mutt scheming this time?”

If dungeons that should’ve appeared every two years were surfacing in just months, didn’t that mean the end was coming faster?

And why did the Fire Dungeon appear before the Water Dungeon, which should have come first?

I tapped my pen against the paper. At this rate, relying only on memory wouldn’t cut it. I needed to get everything written down.

Next to each dungeon, I noted the year it appeared and the items it produced. After finishing, I stored the paper in a drawer and leaned back.

Dwelling on unsolvable problems wasn’t my style. It suited me better to take action.

With that conclusion, I decided to stay low for a while. Not just An Bom and Gumiho—even Choi Tae-hyuk had pressed me to rest. I couldn’t refuse them all.

Three days of nothing but eating and sleeping were enough to restore me quickly.

I guess even if my hardware was human, my software was still a god.

While eating breakfast, I glanced out the window. The sun was blazing in the sky. Recently the wind had turned cold again, but now the weather had suddenly grown warm.

“Maybe I should take Yun-seo out today.”

Come to think of it, with everything that had happened, I hadn’t really spent time with Ji Yun-seo. I’d even promised to decorate her room and hadn’t followed through.

I’d brought her here, calling myself her uncle, and then promptly left her in the care of An Bom and Gumiho. Some guardian I was.

Feeling a twinge of guilt, I got up and stepped into the living room.

There, Ji Yun-seo was lying on her stomach, legs kicking idly in the air as she drew, while An Bom sat nearby watching her with a smile.

“Yun-seo.”

“Uncle!!”

At the sound of my voice, she lifted her head and sprang up, running toward me in her fluttery skirt. I scooped her into my arms, and her tiny arms clung tightly around my neck.

As she buried her face against my shoulder, a faint sweet scent lingered in the air. Her little legs kicked with joy as I patted her back.

Every time I saw this child, I couldn’t help but smile like a doting parent. Why was she so unbearably cute?

☆For Real has sponsored 100 Mana Stones.☆

If this world allowed god interference, I’d bless her a hundred times over! Adorable. Ridiculously adorable. Cutest in the world.

‘Well, our Yun-seo really is the cutest in the world.’

“Are you feeling better now?”

“Yes. Just a bit stiff from resting too much.”

“Are you taking Yun-seo out?”

“Yes. Today I’m going to set up her room.”

“My room?”

Still nestled against my shoulder, Ji Yun-seo tilted her head.

Back at the orphanage, she had probably never had a space of her own. Maybe she didn’t even fully grasp the idea of “my own room.” The thought made my chest tighten.

“You can’t stay in your uncle’s room forever. You need your own room too.”

Still holding her, I carried her toward the empty rooms. This place was so big, there were plenty of spares.

“This one gets a lot of sunlight and has a nice view of the sky.”

Since it was her first time choosing a room, I kept my descriptions simple.

“This one looks out on the forest. See all the trees? In spring, flowers will bloom. In summer, the leaves will be bright green. In autumn, they’ll turn into red maples.”

After the third room, Ji Yun-seo grew thoughtful. There were more rooms in the house, of course, but the ones without sunlight or a nice view weren’t worth offering her.

“Yun-seo, is there one you like?”

When An Bom, who had quietly followed us, asked the question, Ji Yun-seo nodded.

“Which one?”

She pointed her finger at the room right next to mine. Its entire wall was made of glass, flooding the space with sunlight. I’d never used it for that very reason.

“This one?”

She nodded firmly, so I carried her inside.

It wasn’t impossible to use, but with a whole glass wall, it wasn’t exactly practical as a bedroom….

“I want to stay next to Uncle.”

☆Heart! has sponsored 100 Mana Stones.☆

She says she wants the room next to her uncle’s. Are humans all this cute?ㅠㅠ

At her words, I nodded. If that was what she wanted, then that was that. If it became uncomfortable later, we could always change.

Now that I was her guardian, anything she wanted—at least outside of my Hunter duties—I would give her.

“Alright. This will be your room. But first, why don’t we go have some fun with Uncle today?”

“Mmhm.”

“An Bom, do you want to come with us?”

“No, I think I’ll rest today. You two should spend some time together.”

Come to think of it, she hadn’t had much rest either, constantly looking after both me and Ji Yun-seo. I told her to take it easy, then headed out with Ji Yun-seo in my arms toward the interior store.

* * *

The store wasn’t far. With enough money, they could handle everything—from the furniture to the bed—so there was no need for me to run around hunting for things.

“Do you have something specific in mind?”

“I’d like to decorate a child’s room.”

“If you make your selections here, we can design it exactly the way you want.”

Following the owner’s lead, I sat down on the sofa. Ji Yun-seo immediately clambered onto my lap.

I adjusted her posture so she could lean comfortably, then opened a catalog labeled Kids’ Interiors. The pages were filled with cute, pink-and-white designs.

“I don’t like pink.”

“Then what color do you like?”

“Blue.”

I flipped past all the pink pages until I reached the blue section. There were spaceship-themed designs, aircraft carriers, even dungeons.

“Looks like this is where the blue designs start. Why don’t you pick one, Yun-seo?”

I handed her the catalog, and right on cue, the store owner asked,

“What’s the size of the room?”

“Ah.”

‘Right… of course they’d need the measurements.’

When I had my own room done, I never measured a thing. Since the interior was handled during construction, I’d forgotten that actual measurements were necessary.

Scratching my cheek awkwardly, I asked,

“Should I go measure it first?”

The owner waved his hand.

“No need. We can come and measure it ourselves. All our furniture is custom-made, so everything will fit perfectly. Don’t worry.”

That was a relief.

I let out a quiet sigh and took a sip of the drink the owner had set out. Just then, I felt a gentle tug at my sleeve.

“What is it, Yun-seo?”

“I want this one.”

She had chosen a design in soft pastel blues, a clean mix of sky and navy tones. With clouds and snowflake motifs sprinkled throughout, the room gave off the feeling of a sky drifting into winter.

“You like this one?”

“Mmhm.”

“Alright, then let’s go with it. Please make everything using products crafted from dungeon byproducts.”

“And the bed size?”

“Of course, a queen.”

Beds shouldn’t be swapped out often. For sleep, familiarity is what matters most.

Since this would become the room she’d grow up in, the mattress had to be top-tier, the bedding the finest quality available. Not knowing how tall Ji Yun-seo might grow, I ordered the biggest and best they had.

“When would you like us to take the measurements?”

“You can come today. I’ll make the arrangements.”

As long as they were accompanied by someone with gate access, even secret gates could be entered. Once the paperwork and payment were finished, we stepped outside with nothing else pressing to do.

“Yun-seo, is there something you want to do?”

“Hmm.”

“Something you wanted before, or something you’d like to do with Uncle. You can tell me anything. What do you want?”

She lifted her face from where she was resting in my arms and stared at me intently.

“What is it?”

Shaking her head side to side, she pursed her lips and mumbled softly. Her voice was so faint I couldn’t catch it, so I leaned closer.

“Hm? What was that?”

“I want to go to an amusement park.”
