Easy, Easy (1)
“Guess it’s about time to open it.”
After entering Absolute Space, getting plenty of sleep, and eating the delivery food he had prepared in advance, Seon Yul checked the time on his phone and muttered quietly.
He stood up and began to prepare.
Gaeto had already placed the desk at the designated location seven hours ago and pressed Complete Trade. Naturally, Seon Yul had done the same, and the transaction between them was finalized.
Seon Yul had handed over the Black Iron Greatsword he’d obtained from killing the Elite Orc Hunter and received in return the “Death Spear Forged by a Curse.”
The long spear now stood carefully propped up in one corner of Absolute Space.
Just the length of it appeared to be nearly three meters.
Let’s check outside first. I’ll examine the spear afterward.
He had deliberately waited another seven hours in case Gaeto had left the desk in place and was observing the surroundings. Now, it seemed safe to reopen the entrance and take a look.
Just a little…
Thanks to repeated practice, Seon Yul could now freely adjust the size of the entrance. He opened it to the size of his palm and slowly extended an action camera attached to a selfie stick through the opening.
Inside Absolute Space, supplies for this hunt were piled high.
Food sufficient to last a full month. Various tools that might prove useful. Even a portable game console for downtime.
The action camera was prepared for exactly this purpose.
On the small monitor connected to the camera, the outside scene appeared.
Seon Yul had instructed Gaeto to place the desk in the very center of Pyongyang, the capital, back when the region had still been known as North Korea.
The desk now stood in the middle of the ruined city.
He had chosen this location because it likely offered the widest field of view.
An open field of view meant reconnaissance with the action camera would be easier.
The area was clear.
No other Users. No monsters.
“Clear.”
After carefully sweeping the surroundings with the camera, Seon Yul confirmed it was safe… for now.
“Alright. Let’s get ready and head out.”
He donned a state-of-the-art gas mask and put on a high-grade defensive suit powered by a low-tier magic stone. Finally, he firmly placed his trademark safety helmet on his head, the one with the words ‘Safety First’ written across it.
He had purchased all of this from the market.
He had no cash, but he possessed 1.6 kilograms of mid-grade magic stones, far more valuable than money.
Magic stones were even more welcomed than dollars. No seller refused them.
“Open the entrance…”
Tzzzzzz—
He expanded the entrance and stepped out slowly, cautiously pushing his head through first and scanning the area again.
Still nothing.
After confirming safety with his own eyes, Seon Yul slowly crawled out from the entrance on top of the desk.
A quiet downtown Pyongyang.
Nearly every building had collapsed, making the world city feel hollow. But compared to other regions, the view was still much better here than in other places.
First, let’s open Absolute Space again somewhere suitable and establish a base camp.
The desk had simply been transportation.
His primary objective was securing a good base location.
Know the enemy and know yourself, and you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles.
It was a phrase he loved.
In the past, he had studied everything related to Gates.
Gate phenomena. Monsters. Mana Users. Magitech. Any information accessible to him, he studied relentlessly.
As a result, Seon Yul possessed knowledge about Gates that rivaled that of veteran Users.
“Looks like this is a monster pathway.”
Studying the surroundings carefully, he identified a frequently used monster route using methods he had learned from a documentary titled ‘Special People Who Became Monster Hunters.’
“Let’s start here.”
He couldn’t afford to wander long in such a dangerous area. He decided to establish a base camp immediately.
Near the route he had identified, he opened the entrance to Absolute Space once more.
Since only one entrance could exist at a time, the one fixed to the desk automatically vanished.
[Absolute Space Entrance Created]
Ziiiiing—
The entrance formed in midair.
The moment it opened, Seon Yul quickly stepped inside.
Absolute Space was only about 26 square meters. And with all the supplies stacked inside, it felt slightly cramped.
As Seon Yul entered Absolute Space, all his tension melted away, and he felt the most comfortable and at ease he had ever felt in his life.
“Whew… Home really is the best.”
He had only spent about 15 minutes outside, but outside was anxiety itself.
“Now… that spear.”
He removed his gear and looked at the spear, radiating a dangerous aura.
For a perfect hunt, the spear was essential.
Even without the spear, he had prepared a second and third plan. However, the ideal scenario was to succeed in the hunt using the legendary spear he had purchased from Gaeto.
Seon Yul carefully lifted the spear.
Thanks to the bandages Gaeto had tightly wrapped around it with sealing spells, it was currently safe. However, to properly use the spear, the seals would have to be removed.
It should be possible…
He had purchased the spear because, in theory, he had concluded it was possible. However, there was a clear difference between theory and reality, so he couldn’t help but feel nervous.
“I won’t die anyway. And even in the worst case, I have ways to use it.”
Seon Yul had purchased the Legendary Spear with several possibilities in mind, so he thought it would be fine even if he couldn’t use it personally.
So he boldly tore off the seal.
Knock, knock—crack!
The moment the seal was broken, a massive surge of dark energy that had been tightly confined within the spear burst outward.
“Ugh!”
Seon Yul, who had been holding the spear, flinched in shock.
There was no pain. But an eerie aura wrapped around his body, and he felt his life force literally being drained from him.
To put it more precisely, it was like a game character continuously losing health by a fixed percentage.
The kind of loss that invoked an instinctive fear of death.
“Urgh!!”
The sensation dragged up a memory from his childhood, trembling alone inside a bunker, overwhelmed by fear.
For a split second, he thought he should drop the spear immediately.
But then…
A completely different sensation surged through him.
Where there had been fear of death, now there was absolute despair as the two forces collided within his body.
Swaaaaaaah!
His hyper regeneration activated instantly. The vitality that had been drained was immediately restored. Warmth filled his body again, and the crushing fear slowly receded.
“Whoa…”
In the end, Seon Yul did not let go of the spear.
Inside him, the spear’s horrific curse, which reduced life force by a percentage, and his overwhelming regenerative power clashed relentlessly, each trying to overpower the other.
Yet as the two forces reached a balance, he only felt slightly fatigued, a faint chill lingering under his skin.
“I understand now… what Wolverine meant.”
The curse placed on the Legendary Spear was truly dreadful. Even someone like Wolverine, with near-limitless regenerative abilities, wouldn’t be able to wield it properly as a weapon.
If he fought a monster using this spear, his regeneration would be forced to focus entirely on resisting the curse, leaving no room to recover from enemy attacks.
And if regeneration couldn’t function properly… That was the end.
So if even Wolverine couldn’t use it…
Ordinary people without superpowers wouldn’t survive a second.
Thud.
“Whew…”
Seon Yul exhaled deeply and lowered the spear.
For now, it seemed usable.
He wasn’t planning to rush into battle against monsters head-on. As long as he repeated a single simple action, it should work.
“Now all that’s left… is waiting.”
Every user who crossed into the North Korean region became a Hunter and searched for monsters.
Though their hunting styles differed, the goal was always the same: track, locate, eliminate.
But Seon Yul’s method… was more like fishing.
Sitting still. Waiting for prey to come.
It was the first safe hunting method he had devised.
* * *
Monsters were more intelligent than humans realized.
However, their instincts were overwhelmingly strong, making them appear unintelligent.
Whenever instinct and reason clashed, instinct always prevailed. Instead of avoiding humans, they hunted them.
Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.
The troll roaming this area was no different.
The troll was considered a mid-tier monster, high-level, and fairly intelligent. Yet the faint scent of a human was enough to stir excitement within it.
It slowly advanced, carefully tracing the lingering smell.
All monsters that emerged from the Gates were bound by a peculiar curse known as ‘Endless Hunger.’
It was both a blessing and a curse.
No matter how much they consumed, they were never satisfied.
But in exchange, their physical abilities were amplified.
For trolls, their bodies grew roughly one and a half times larger, and their strength increased by about twenty percent.
Enough to rip steel apart with bare hands.
Sniff. Sniff.
The troll continued forward.
With that kind of power, trolls did not truly fear humans nor the Users.
In fact, Users were typically cautious when hunting trolls, which was why this one had managed to survive here for so long.
“Hmm?”
The troll arrived where the scent abruptly ended and looked around.
There was nothing that appeared to be alive.
Instead, something unfamiliar caught its eye.
A circular distortion, like a round hole suspended in midair.
The troll tilted its head and slowly stepped closer.
The moment it leaned forward to examine the hole…
Something shot out.
KWADEUK!
A spear burst from the distortion and pierced straight through the troll’s skull.
“KRAAAAAAH!”
The spear penetrated with terrifying ease, and the troll howled in rage.
Instinctively, it tried to pull the spear free, determined to tear apart whatever enemy hid beyond that strange opening.
Normally, this level of injury wouldn’t threaten a troll’s life.
Its regenerative ability was exceptional.
Even having one side of its head pierced… would not be fatal.
But this time…
There was no regeneration.
Nothing healed. Nothing recovered.
Only silence.

Melody?
Ah, sorry about that. It should have been Seon Yul. Thank you for reporting; I fixed it already… I think.
