Heavy Rain Chapter 61
Before long, passing through the city, the grasslands were stepped upon. Once past even that, a high wall appeared. He felt confusion at the sight of the familiar mansion. He wondered if he was seeing the memory of the day his parents passed away in a dream again. He hadn’t had that dream since he was a child, so it was a strange thing.
However, unlike back then, rain continued to fall. Ceaselessly, like his footsteps.
And a brilliantly shining haze was heading toward the inside of the mansion.
Lyle entered the mansion with familiar steps. At some point, the umbrella that had been spread over his head had disappeared. Even though he had come under the roof, the sound of rain continued to ring in his ears. As if he could never escape that sound for eternity.
Soon, a familiar room door appeared at the end of his gaze. It was also then that someone grabbed him fiercely. It was Mark.
“Young master. You must not do this.”
“…”
He felt as if the rain he had waded through until now had suddenly poured over his head.
“…Why, am I…”
Was it not a dream? Lyle ended up with a dazed face because of the sense of reality that suddenly overwhelmed him.
Why on earth was he in the mansion? Why in front of Haejin’s room?
“Are you coming to your senses?”
The secretary he had caught a glimpse of earlier asked him with an urgent face. Around him, bodyguards with stiffened faces were surrounding him.
“How did this…”
His vacant mind would not turn. His vision still appeared entirely in black and white. The world, drained of color as if looking at a broken screen, is confusing.
Just then, the sound of a door opening with a click was heard from behind.
Reflexively, everyone turned around. Only Lyle remained stiffly frozen, unable to move.
A wave of pheromones pushed in from behind his back. The brilliant haze he had been following since a while ago encroached upon his vision.
As if being controlled, Lyle slowly turned around. As a commotion arose outside, he saw Haejin’s face peeking out from between the door.
At first, that face, which had merely shown wonder, gradually stiffened as soon as he saw Lyle. Haejin, who alone shone in this dark world, was this radiant even with a stiffened face.
That frozen expression soon crumbled down. Seeing the white face distorting as if unable to endure resentment toward Lyle, he felt the sensation of his heart stopping.
And then he realized. The reason why he had returned to the mansion on his own feet even after taking those strong sleeping pills.
He had imprinted.
And it was upon those eyes looking at me with resentment.
Even though such a strong realization struck his head, he did not come to his senses. Because that white face directed at him was so excessively lovely, he couldn’t pull himself together. Thanks to that, Lyle just stared at Haejin blankly. Still, the world that had been like a broken screen until now began to look more or less back to normal.
Thanks to Haejin’s sudden appearance, everyone in the hallway held their breath like stone statues. And Haejin, receiving the gazes pouring upon him, unwittingly faltered and stepped back.
The resentment dwelling on that face eventually turned into sorrow.
Only then did Lyle, who had come to his senses, feel his heart plummeting down again. Just by looking at the eyes, he could tell what kind of misunderstanding Haejin had made. Pheromones containing fear pierced into his body like a giant spear.
He had to clear up the misunderstanding.
With only that single-minded determination, Lyle approached Haejin. He only realized that this was a foolish and hasty act after the fellow retreated completely as if running away.
Seeing the eyes distorting as if rain were about to fall, he felt like he was going to die from urgency.
“…You said, to be at ease…”
It was also sorrowful that he had held expectations for Lyle, the one he wanted to rely on the least. However, the moment those expectations were cruelly trampled upon is only miserable, just like that night.
Was the light rain suddenly exuding a forceful presence a precursor for this? Lyle’s swaying pheromones wafted over as if surrounding Haejin. As Lyle approached, his body began to tremble. Finally, it was when Haejin, who was suffocating, unwittingly raised his hand toward his neck.
Both his wrists were grabbed firmly by Lyle.
“No. It’s not like that.”
“It’s not…?”
Both hands were trembling pitifully as if they had been hit by cold rain since a while ago. The funny thing was that Lyle’s hands were trembling as much as his. Surprisingly, there was no sensation in the two captured hands. As if Lyle were struggling desperately not to grip them strongly.
At that moment, the secretary, who had been watching for an opening, quickly intervened.
“He fell asleep at the hospital, but his body seems to be showing an abnormal reaction. I have called the primary physician, so he will arrive soon.”
When he turned around reflexively, only then did he see something a bit strange. The secretary’s shoulders were a mess, soaked with rain. Even in the back, where he looked with fearful eyes, several people were seen drenched in rain.
And rainwater trickled down his own wrists. They were things that had flowed out from Lyle.
“Let’s wash up first. Your body is too cold. Mr. Bright, I’m sorry, but may we borrow the bathroom here?”
Mark intervened with a face full of worry. He didn’t forget to carefully detach Lyle’s hands. In contrast to how he had approached as if to grab him quickly, Lyle flinched at that touch and stepped back.
The unfolding situation was very strange. In order to grasp the situation, Haejin’s gaze busily moved here and there. Then, the moment he faced Mark, who was looking at him as if asking for permission, he nodded his head as if possessed. It was a reflexive action because worry for Haejin was deeply melted into that gaze.
Once he nodded his head, the frozen space came alive and moved as if by magic.
The bodyguards who had followed Lyle in retreated outside while quickly contacting somewhere. The secretary also hurriedly ran out while holding a phone. Mark instructed the servants about something and led Lyle toward the bathroom. One servant approached Haejin while fidgeting with a dry towel.
Lyle, who hadn’t taken his eyes off him until then, disappeared into the bathroom while unable to hide his agitation.
Suddenly, Haejin realized that his body was no longer trembling. As if the thing trembling all this time wasn’t his own hand, but Lyle’s hand.
“…Hmm.”
His primary physician, who had rushed to Lyle’s mansion, made a groaning sound with a troubled face. From the moment he left the hospital at will, Lyle’s medical team had been moving in an emergency system. Thanks to that, the primary physician was able to enter Haejin’s drawing room as soon as he finished his shower.
Due to the subtle timing, Haejin ended up attending his medical examination as well. He had been awkwardly nailed to the drawing room, thinking everyone would naturally leave, and it ended up like this. It was because he didn’t want to go near the bed in this situation. If he had known he would see a scene of them sitting together for a medical examination like this, he would have gone to another room.
Surprisingly, no one here had any questions about Haejin attending. Even Lyle, who was revealing his private examination. For some reason, his eyes, which had been looking at him since a while ago, were shaking with passion.
The primary physician, who was examining Lyle’s body, looked toward Haejin once more with a troubled face. Since he was also an Alpha, he could tell that Haejin was an Omega. Looking at the pheromones felt very faintly, he must be a recessive one.
“Doctor.”
At that moment, as soon as his gaze headed toward Haejin, Lyle’s low voice was heard. As if telling him not to look that way carelessly.
The startled physician ended up looking at Lyle’s face at once this time. It was because he knew his Omega phobia better than anyone else.
Suddenly, he remembered Lyle on the day he had visited him, saying he didn’t have a headache. The day he had diagnosed whether he had been hit by the pheromones of an Omega with whom he was highly compatible.
Lyle’s pheromones, having fallen into rut, were moving around inside this drawing room like angry waves. Thanks to that, the primary physician, who was an Alpha nearby, was having a agonizing time. Yet surprisingly, there seemed to be no particular impact on the Omega sitting over there. Even though a slight sense of rejection was dwelling on the face he glimpsed.
