It seemed to be a mark indicating there was something at Yongsan Station, but just looking at this, I couldn’t tell what it was.

So, I started looking elsewhere.

‘Oh, this is…’

Next to Yongsan Station, where contaminated buildings stood densely packed, a cute flag was planted with a plop. As if telling me to go there.

I turned my head toward it. Seeing that no buildings were visible, it must be connected to another region.

When a Dungeon Break occurs, contaminated areas become linked to one another. They connect as if several regions have been stitched together haphazardly.

Because of this, one could instantly move from a contaminated zone in Busan to one in Gangwon Province.

‘Let’s get out of here first.’

I tied the box and my wrist together with the ribbon.

I planned to hide inside my spaceship immediately if something dangerous appeared.

Pyok, pyok, pyok…

Screeeech—

Behind my careful footsteps, the sound of the box scraping against the ground could be heard.

This was the deep interior of the contaminated zone where a Dungeon Break had occurred.

It wouldn’t be strange if one or two more monsters popped out.

So I paid the utmost attention, but…

‘It’s strange.’

I could clearly feel that there were things around me, but they didn’t approach.

They only hovered around, as if they were afraid of something.

‘Could it be me?’

Because they saw me using Purification?

Hmm. Feeling full of myself, I straightened my hunched shoulders and started walking confidently.

Pyok, pyok, pyok, pyok!

How much longer did I walk like that?

Shiver!

My eyes widened as I looked around at the eerie cold.

“…!”

Goosebumps erupted all over my body once again.

Something creeping out from the stairs of the Yongsan Station building was approaching me.

It looked like a snake made of shadows.

Tentacles, as pitch-black as the abyss and as thick as tree trunks, split into separate strands, searching every corner as if looking for something.

Gasp!

My vision spun. Just facing its presence brought a fear that constricted my heart.

It was as overwhelming as encountering an incomprehensible being.

At that moment.

Yellow eyes opened one by one on the black tentacles, and countless eyeballs rolled around on them.

Only then did I realize.

The red arrow marked on the map earlier wasn’t a logo for a popular restaurant…

‘It was a boss monster marker…!’

If it was such a creepy and terrifying being, there was one thing that came to mind.

Could this be a ‘Calamity’?

A Calamity.

Monsters that no one could rival, the beings that ruled over the contaminated zones.

The monsters hadn’t stayed away because they were afraid of me; they couldn’t come because they were afraid of It.

I slowly put some distance between myself and the ‘Calamity’.

It only moved as if searching for something, but it didn’t directly harm me.

‘Still, it’s scary!’

I held my breath so as not to catch its eye.

Just then.

One of the moving tentacles thrust right in front of my feet.

At this rate, I would definitely be caught.

It felt like the world was spinning before my eyes.

Even as I tried to think of a plan, the tip of the tentacle was drawing closer by the second.

I clenched my fists tight. And just as I was about to take a step back.

Slither—

It suddenly started to retreat. It seemed to be returning to Yongsan Station, having failed to find what it was looking for.

The tentacles, which had been as black as shadows, seeped back into the gloom of the station.

‘I-I lived…’

I gasped for breath so hard my jaw trembled.

My heart pounded frantically.

However, I forced myself to swallow the fear and began to move bit by bit.

Because if I stayed here, other monsters might approach.

It was then.

A static sound came from Yongsan Station, and soon, music flowed out through the speakers.

My hair stood on end. I got goosebumps, and my vision wavered.

<So the government’s stance is…>

<Regarding this, the Hunter Alliance…>

The radio channels started flipping crazily with a bzzzt, bzzzt sound.

Bzzzt, bzzzt, bzzzt…

Voices and music mixed and changed incessantly.

Then, suddenly, the sound stopped.

What is it trying to do?

The question was quickly answered.

That thing in Yongsan Station tuned the radio back and forth to repeat a single word.

Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam. Do Dam.

Pyopyopyopyopyopyopyopyopyok!

I ran away without looking back.

And with good reason.

Because ‘Do Dam’ was my name.

* * *

How does it know my name?

It’s scary.

Pyok, pyok, pyok…

No, regardless of how it knows, let’s not think about it.

Just thinking about it feels like my mental strength is being drained.

Shake, shake.

I shook my head.

After running for my life, the surroundings had unexpectedly changed from Yongsan’s forest of buildings into an ordinary forest.

‘Wow…’

I opened my mouth in awe at the sight before me.

I knew that contaminated zones were connected to each other, but experiencing it firsthand definitely felt different.

Then, I spotted a rural house and my eyes went wide.

‘This is…’

It’s the house from the game, isn’t it?!

I’m sure that whenever I pressed the ‘Home’ button in the game, I would return to a house like this.

I used to farm here, and even do gymnastics while standing in front of it.

So that’s why the map guided me here!

For the first time since becoming an alien, my heart swelled with emotion.

Maybe I can just settle down here…!

But that hope of mine was instantly shattered into pieces.

Is someone there?

The front gate flinched as if it were about to open at any moment.

“…!”

Pyo pyo pyo pyo pyok!

I hurriedly went and hid behind a tree.

A moment later, the person who came out from inside was a man.

Even through his worn clothes, I could tell he had broad shoulders and a large frame. Even his aura was overbearing.

It was hard to make out his face.

The man, who had his hood pulled down and was wearing a gas mask, rested a shovel on his shoulder, looked around, and began walking somewhere with long strides.

I waited until the man was far away, then paced in front of the house again.

A U-shaped house with a blue roof.

In front of it was a small, neat patch of field.

Carrots were planted in neat rows in the field.

Growl—.

I rubbed my stomach as hunger set in.

To think someone lived in a contaminated zone. I couldn’t have imagined it at all.

However, just because I saw a person didn’t mean I could be purely glad…

‘My field, my house…’

I glared at the house with blazing eyes.

Someone has taken up farming at my house.
