“Welcome, VIP guest.”

A yellow hazmat suit strode inside.

One wearing a white hazmat suit was following behind it.

Wheeze— Wheeze—

The two people, breathing heavily, walked up and stood before the employee.

“VIP guest. What brings you here today?”

“The inheritance,”

The yellow protective suit said curtly.

At that, the employee’s head twisted at a grotesque angle.

“The inheritance is already gone. The inheritance is already gone.”

As she giggled, the tree laughed along with her.

Rumble— Rumble—

The yellow protective suit asked back, flustered.

“What does that mean?”

It was something they hadn’t been able to obtain despite sacrificing dozens of people in various ways until now.

But the inheritance was gone?

“Who, who took it?”

At the yellow protective suit’s question, the employee’s mouth split into a wide grin.

“The Scavengers.”

* * *

On the way back home.

“I didn’t expect you to make her say that the Scavengers took it.”

Cha Haeeon seemed slightly surprised.

At that, I giggled.

“If they find out we have the inheritance, they might come looking for us, right? I was preventing that.”

My brother also made a devious expression from on top of my head. He even patted me with his tentacles while wearing a face that said, ‘My sister did well.’

“Ah, right. By the way, where is the Scavengers’ base?”

“Why do you ask?”

“Well… ‘Planet Dynamics’ might go to the Scavengers to find the inheritance. It might be fun to take a look and see what happens.”

Fight, fight. Getting into a good mood, I giggled once more.

Cha Haeeon turned his head as he saw my sly expression.

It sounded like he might have let out a small laugh, but I couldn’t see well because of the gas mask.

“How do you plan on looking in?”

“Ah, I have a magic CCTV. I’ll show you later.”

Cha Haeeon nodded.

Then, as if the gas mask was cumbersome, he fiddled with its edge.

How uncomfortable must it be to walk around wearing something that big? Even my respirator was uncomfortable….

“Cha Haeeon. I’ll make it so you can take it off.”

I grabbed the hem of Cha Haeeon’s pants.

So that he wouldn’t have to wear that cumbersome gas mask anymore.

“I’ll take it off for you.”

Cha Haeeon stared down at me. It was just when his black pupils seemed to waver slightly.

Plop.

I turned around at the sound of something falling.

In front of the house, Captain Gong Juwon and Bora Unnie were looking at us. A large chunk of meat had fallen beneath them.

I tilted my head.

“What kind of meat is that?”

“Ah, this… I saw a chunk of meat inside that plant and was about to prepare it to see if it was edible….”

For some reason, Bora Unnie was stuttering.

Why on earth?

Following her, Captain Gong Juwon shouted at the top of his lungs.

“What do you mean, take what off?! No matter how close you two are, you shouldn’t just, recklessly, like that…!”

“Wh-what?! What kind of nonsense is that! I’m talking about the gas mask!”

As I was recoiling in horror, Cha Haeeon spoke in a listless tone.

“Kyaaa— the Jelly says she’s going to strip it all off. I better run away.”

My mouth hung open blankly.

Did he just play a prank on me?

Don’t tell me, did the fact that I said I’d take off his gas mask actually touch his heart?

While I was surprised, Cha Haeeon slipped right into the house.

It was a shame I couldn’t see what kind of face he was making.

I ended up laughing a little as I hugged Oppa, who was jumping up and down in anger.

* * *

Rumble, rumble.

The washing machine ran in the yard.

“It’s truly amazing that it runs by itself without electricity.”

“Our Dam can even do things like this….”

Captain Gong Juwon and Bora Unnie, who were looking at the washing machine with fascination, spoke one after another.

The two of them acted like medieval people who couldn’t take their eyes off modern civilization because it was so fascinating.

I watched their backs with satisfaction while planting Galactic Two-Two Pepper seeds in the field.

Actually, it was only natural for them to be surprised.

That was how long they had been away from modern civilization.

If it weren’t for the lighter Cha Haeeon had and the house structure that pumped groundwater, they would have had to experience a more terrible, primitive life, let alone the middle ages.

‘If only it weren’t for the decorating cooldown, I could have made all sorts of things for them.’

What a shame.

Maybe it would be good to get a list of necessary items from everyone sometime….

Since I could just make them one by one in order of high importance.

Just then, Cha Haeeon came out of the storage room carrying a TV.

“Wow, there’s even a TV?”

“Can we now know the news of the outside world in real-time?”

As if both were starved for the outside world, they rejoiced as if about to leap.

Cha Haeeon delayed his answer while giving me an eye signal.

“Th-that’s not a TV, it’s a CCTV. As for news of the outside world… this friend will let you know. Right?”

[Of course, of course.]

Flap, flap. The hamster flying with small wings nodded while displaying text on the tablet.

[Captain Gong Juwon.]

[Your younger sibling is doing well in the dormitory without any trouble.]

[Do not worry too much.]

Captain Gong Juwon’s face stiffened slightly. It seemed to bother him how the hamster knew about his sibling.

Had he already finished a background check on us in the meantime? He’s certainly not easy to deal with.

“Thank you, Mr. Shane Hart.”

Captain Gong Juwon probably made a similar deduction as I did, but he offered a polite thank you.

[Shane is enough.]

[If you are alright with it, Captain Gong, I will continue to deliver news.]

Captain Gong Juwon hesitated, but ultimately nodded his head.

Then, Bora Unnie cautiously raised her hand.

“Um, can I also ask for news about my family?”

[Anytime!]

“Thank you so much, Mr. Shane.”

Even though Shane said it was fine, Bora Unnie bowed repeatedly.

The hamster, who had gained the favor of the two people in an instant, winked at me.

He seemed to be showing off that everything he was doing was to look good in my eyes.

I was nodding to show him he did a good job when suddenly my brother made a ‘thupt’ sound and spat at the hamster.

Not only that, but he also clenched his tentacles like fists and shook them. It was as if he were telling the hamster to try flirting one more time.

It seemed he had spat because his short tentacles couldn’t reach the flying hamster. (For the record, Dumbo octopuses do not have ink.)

[.˚‧º·(´ฅωฅ`)‧º·˚.]

[This is too much.]

[This is too much.]

Shane, who had suddenly been spat on by the Dumbo octopus, spun around in circles and wailed.

Unfazed by that, my brother continued to spit, thupt thupt.

“Stop it, Oppa.”

I patted my brother on the head.

While I was calming my brother down like that, I was startled by something and my eyes widened.

It was because Cha Haeeon was glaring at Shane with eyes that were somehow very displeased.

Why is he looking like that again?
