The Jelly Alien Will Save You! Chapter 63
I tilted my head and approached Cha Haeeon while holding the Dumbo octopus.
“What’s wrong?”
“What is?”
Cha Haeeon whipped his head away as if nothing had happened.
“I’ll leave the TV here.”
“Mhm.”
Cha Haeeon placed the box and the TV next to my spaceship.
As I thanked him, my brother laughed soundlessly with a meaningful expression. I decided not to ask, as it felt like he was thinking of something unpleasant.
Meanwhile, I turned on the TV and flipped through the channels. It was to spy on the Scavengers’ den.
Although the Scavengers moved in a decentralized manner, they were said to have a leader and two main focal points for their operations.
According to what I had confirmed with Cha Haeeon in the storage room earlier, one of them was channel 21.
‘By the way, how far can this satellite see into the contaminated zones?’
Even the most advanced satellites on Earth cannot look inside contaminated zones.
That was why even Shane couldn’t use satellites and had to send drones instead.
Everyone marveled at the unfathomable alien technology.
“Can you really see every nook and cranny of the contaminated zones?”
“My goodness….”
Shane seemed to have no room in his mind to worship me as usual, as he was busy checking the TV.
While everyone was preoccupied with examining different parts of the TV screen, I kept my eyes on the monitor with Cha Haeeon and began to change the channels.
And the moment I turned to channel 21.
I froze in shock.
On the screen, countless people were sprawled across the top of a building. They all appeared to be Scavengers wearing gas masks.
“What is…?”
Are they dead?
I met Cha Haeeon’s eyes. A look of incomprehension and doubt was also reflected on his face.
It hadn’t even been thirty minutes since we saw the Scavengers alive and moving in the storage room.
Yet so many had died in such a short amount of time?
Just then, the sound of someone’s footsteps walking onto the roof of the building was heard.
‘Who is it?’
Tense with nerves, I scooted on my behind toward Cha Haeeon’s side.
Cha Haeeon raised his arm and made room for me.
Clutching my brother tightly, I trembled as I leaned into Cha Haeeon.
The figure that appeared on the screen was a tall man.
Walking to the edge of the railing amidst the pile of corpses, the man gently looked up at the sky.
I stared intently at the coat he was wearing. The shape of the coat, which dropped in a straight line to his ankles, felt familiar for some reason.
Why does it look so familiar?
Anxiety rose within me. My heart throbbed.
<Catch him now!>
<He’s on the roof!>
Scavengers stomped up onto the roof.
Then, at some point, a black umbrella appeared in the man’s hand.
He opened the umbrella in a place where nothing was falling.
The inside of the black umbrella was densely packed with something written in red letters.
‘That umbrella is….’
At that moment, streaks of blood began to pour down like rain within the screen.
I could only watch the screen, my face turning pale.
One by one, the Scavengers hit by the streaks of blood collapsed.
<Ugh!>
<Aaaagh!>
Corpses began to pile up on the roof once again.
“…!”
Suddenly, the man turned toward the direction of the screen.
I flinched, my shoulders jumping.
The man’s head was in the shape of a mountain goat. Below four rounded horns, stacked two on each side of his head, glowing red pupils shone.
The man with the goat head stood tall, holding his umbrella as he stared at the screen.
“…!”
I felt as if I were being pierced by that sharp gaze.
Just then, Bora Unnie uttered someone’s name like a groan.
“Woo Jaehee…?”
Only then did I remember who that umbrella and coat belonged to.
That belonged to Quasar—to Jaehee Oppa.
* * *
Woo Jaehee raised his hand to stop his opponent’s advance.
His senses, which had become sharper after becoming a Calamity, whispered to him. That something was watching.
Hiss— hiss—
The yellow protective suit did not step out onto the roof, instead shaking his head from inside the rooftop building.
It meant the inheritance was not here.
Jaehee folded his umbrella and put his hands in his pockets. The red rain had stopped before he knew it.
From the edge of the railing, he looked down at the bottom of the building.
Below the building, corpses were strewn alongside pools of blood.
It was a scenery he had entirely created.
“….”
Remaining silent, he blinked slowly. His vision was hazy, as if he were dreaming.
He looked down at his own hands. To him, his clean hands that had nothing on them felt as though they were drenched in blood.
It was right when the impulse to just let everything go and jump off began to envelop him.
“Jaehee-ya.”
“Jaehee Oppa.”
In moments like this, he heard the auditory hallucinations of the siblings as he did at any other time.
His mind, which was filled with nothing but noise, became clear only for the briefest moment when those voices were heard.
Only those voices that passed by unawares allowed him to remain as himself.
Jaehee craved those voices as if he were parched. He wanted to hear them just one more time.
But whose voices were they, exactly?
Right around the time he closed his eyes and fell deep into thought.
The yellow hazmat suit ordered,
“Come back.”
Jaehee walked back into the rooftop building with an expression that looked as if nothing had happened.
* * *
The man with the goat head disappeared from the roof.
Right on cue, the screen cut out.
This TV consumed a significant amount of energy, so it couldn’t be viewed for very long.
I picked up the Energy Injector.
BEEP!
And I changed the channel.
Next channel, next channel, next channel… until I could see Jaehee Oppa again.
However, the TV would not connect for long, contrary to my wishes. It turned off in a much shorter time than before.
“No…”
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
I fired the Energy Injector repeatedly until the TV turned back on. Since I fired it multiple times, I could feel my strength being drained away as if a straw had been stuck into me.
As I used the Energy Injector until my whole body turned white, those around me began to stop me.
“Stop, Dam-ah. Stop it.”
Bora Unnie stood in front of me, and my brother stretched his tentacles to try and snatch the Energy Injector away.
The one who finally took the Energy Injector from me was Cha Haeeon.
“Calm down.”
Cha Haeeon grabbed my chin with his large hand. Meeting my eyes steadily, he gently wiped away my welling tears.
I rested my chin in Cha Haeeon’s hand and let my strength go.
“Hic, Jaehee Oppa……”
“Yeah.”
“It’s him, right? …Ugh! It couldn’t be, hic, someone else, right?”
“It’s likely him.”
When Cha Haeeon said the words I wanted to hear, tears began to pour out so much that my vision became distorted.
“Waaaaah!”
My brother didn’t know what to do and stroked my back endlessly with his tentacles to comfort me.
I hugged my brother tightly.
My brother must be even sadder. Because Brother and Jaehee Oppa were best friends who had been together for twenty years since they were seven years old.
I wailed at the top of my lungs, enough for the both of us.
“Hic! Sob!”
Cha Haeeon lent me his embrace.
To think that Jaehee Oppa was also alive.
In such a form….
But as long as he was alive, any form was fine.
And right around the time I felt I had calmed down a bit.
“Let’s go save him, hic!”

How big was Quasar, exactly?
I mean, I love the team growing bigger. Would be nice to know beforehand how many new faces to expect!
