“Let’s go save him, hic!”

I said.

“He’s definitely, sniff! Waiting for us.”

Then Bora Unnie, who had been wiping away tears with me, took a weapon out from her shirt and replied.

“Let’s go, Dam-ah.”

It was the sword that looked like a lightning rod, which we had brought from Quasar.

Ppyok, ppyok, ppyok, ppyok. I responded as I boarded the spaceship.

“Mhm!”

Having finished our cry, we stepped forward with majestic dignity.

Crackle!

“W-wait just a moment!”

“There’s no time to wait.”

“Don’t stop us, Captain Gong.”

As we, with our eyes swollen and puffy, hissed at Captain Gong Juwon like vipers, Cha Haeeon spoke.

“Do you even know where you’re going?”

“…”

“…”

We sat back down quietly on the wooden veranda.

Unnie pulled me onto her lap, and I leaned comfortably against her chest.

Seeing as my mood improved instantly, it seemed Unnie thought of me as quite squishy. (It was because of the ‘Ferocious Predatory Jelly’ title.)

I spoke up.

“Let’s not be hasty.”

“Right. We have to be calm at times like this.”

Unnie agreed.

Taking advantage of the momentum, I pointed a finger at Captain Gong.

“And Captain Gong, how could you stop us so recklessly? We almost became grilled electricity!”

“…T-that’s right. It was dangerous!”

It felt like Unnie had gained a bit of shamelessness. How proud I was.

I patted the back of Unnie’s hand, telling her she did a good job.

Captain Gong Juwon looked a bit dazed at our words, but we ignored him and discussed how to proceed.

* * *

Before getting into the main discussion, I first confessed what had happened at the bank.

“You’re saying you made off with the ‘inheritance’ the yellow protective suit wanted, and told them to pass on the message that the ‘Scavengers took it’?”

Captain Gong Juwon raised his voice.

In response, I stuck my lip out and nodded. My shoulders slumped slightly, wondering if I was about to be scolded for no reason.

However, the words that followed were completely unexpected.

“Wow…. You did well.”

“You really did a great job, Dam-ah!”

What, is everyone praising me? I rolled my eyes and then let the corners of my mouth turn up slightly.

I felt Cha Haeeon let out a small laugh at my reaction.

Why, what, why.

“It would have been a disaster if you hadn’t said the Scavengers took it.”

That was true. A rain of blood might have fallen on our house.

“So, what is this inheritance?”

“Ah.”

I rummaged through the spaceship and pulled out the metal sphere.

“Huh? I think I saw this at Quasar.”

At Unnie’s words, it felt as if a sharp sound was coming from Cha Haeeon’s eyes.

“N-no, Unnie. It’s different from that.”

I quickly denied it while watching Cha Haeeon’s reaction.

“Is that so? But how do you use it?”

Hmm. I could probably open the records using Mimic Jelly. While I glanced at Mimic Jelly, who was playing with the space spirits at the ranch, Cha Haeeon cut in.

“Instead of worrying about what this is, let’s think about what we can do right now.”

“Right. If Jaehee came to find what the yellow protective suit wanted, is Jaehee in the yellow protective suit’s clutches?”

Captain Gong Juwon nodded at Unnie’s speculation.

“The possibility is high. My teammates were also controlled by the yellow hazmat suit.”

He bit his lower lip as he spoke. He seemed to be suppressing his rage.

I looked at Captain Gong Juwon with pity for a moment before speaking up again.

“Cha Haeeon, you said earlier that the Scavengers have two focal points, right?”

“That’s right.”

“Then the place Jaehee Oppa goes next might be there. Because for now, they’ll think the Scavengers have the inheritance.”

Everyone nodded as if that made sense.

“My opinion is to first follow them to the second base.”

I looked at Cha Haeeon, who was submerged in silence, and asked further.

“Do you know where that is?”

“…I know.”

As he said that, Cha Haeeon looked somehow displeased.

Amidst the light descending from the church’s stained glass, a man in a loudly patterned suit clasped his hands.

His gaze was fixed on the divine statue standing in the center of the church.

The statue was painted entirely black, with only a long mouth drawn in blue paint.

That was the god of the contaminated zone they—he—believed in.

Just then, the church door creaked open, and a scavenger rushed over to whisper in his ear.

The man slowly opened his eyes and murmured.

“…The yellow protective suit betrayed us.”

“Yes, the yellow protective suit brought a Calamity to the second base.”

“For what reason?”

“They say he asked if we took the ‘inheritance.’”

“Inheritance…. Is there a kid who brought something like that?”

“We conducted a separate investigation, but there was no such kid.”

The man pressed his fingertips together like a spire and tapped his thumbs against each other.

“…If that’s the case, they’ll be coming this way soon.”

The man stood up and adjusted his clothes.

The scavenger rose along with him and asked.

“How do you intend to respond?”

Should they gather all the combatants?

The scavenger tensed his body in preparation for the clash that might occur soon as he continued.

“Are you going to fight?”

However, their leader and the King of Scavengers, Jino, simply brushed his hair back into a slick-back and spoke nonchalantly.

“Is there a need to fight? We should tell them to wait.”

“Pardon?!”

“Because the b*stards with the real inheritance will come this way.”

As he spoke, he put on a pair of orange-tinted sunglasses, and the church door opened.

Jino muttered.

“Well, after getting compensation first, that is.”

The one who opened the door was another scavenger.

“A-a Calamity is coming……!”

Jino’s expression crumpled at the scavenger’s panicked voice.

“Yeah. There should be a guest who came with the Calamity, what about that side?”

The scavenger who announced the Calamity swallowed hard.

Hiss— hiss—

The yellow protective suit revealed himself behind him.

The yellow protective suit, who was a head taller than the scavenger, had approached soundlessly from behind.

Naturally, the air grew heavy.

Through the open door, the sound of something being dug up echoed rhythmically.

Thud.

Clang.

Thud.

This place where the Scavengers had settled was a magic stone deposit.

In unpurified land, high-purity mana stones grew, and these were traded at astronomical prices.

The Scavengers were holding vast sums of money while distributing these mana stones to the yellow hazmat suit’s side.

Thanks to that, they had thought their relationship with the yellow protective suit wasn’t bad, but….

“Tsk.”

You dare bring a Calamity here?
