‘Yes, in the original novel, he definitely…….’

He was a character who had been clashing with Axion from the very beginning of the original story, while Axion steadily carried out his plan to destroy the continent.

In other words, you could say he was an early rival character introduced to show how the protagonist was growing stronger.

‘At first, they fought on fairly equal terms, but as Axion gradually awakened to the power of the Demon Dragon, he was eventually eliminated in a rather brutal manner.’

He was a character who had quite a bit of presence early on but disappeared later, so I had forgotten about him.

He was destined to be eliminated by Axion.

I looked at the boy with pity. For some reason, I felt a sense of shared suffering with him.

“What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

The boy rebuffed my pitiful gaze with a sullen expression.

Regardless of what he said, a question suddenly occurred to me, and I tilted my head.

‘Come to think of it, what happened to this person named Kora?’

The blue-haired woman was still standing there with a dazed expression.

I couldn’t remember her very well.

Well, then again.

‘Dazar…… didn’t appear in the original novel either.’

The original novel began at least twenty years from now, so there might have been some event during that time that caused them to disappear from the story.

“But what are you?”

Regardless of whether they appeared in the original novel or not, I was in the middle of wondering whether I should buy a lottery ticket after somehow encountering Transcendents whom I normally wouldn’t have had any chance of meeting.

The boy threw me a question with a slightly sharper gaze than before.

“You came from over there, so I suppose you really did meet that old fox…… But if you’re not Vanilla, then who are you?”

There was a strange glint in his eyes.

Apparently, he was suspicious of me.

At some point, the dazed-looking woman had moved without me noticing and was now blocking the path behind me.

‘Am I being surrounded right now?’

Being scrutinized like this by two Transcendents when this body had no abilities whatsoever…… Well, this was quite something.

“Fortunately, the future of this world looks bright.”

“Huh?”

These two somewhat dim-witted people were Transcendents who would protect the continent from Axion.

I had been wondering how on earth they protected the continent.

Still, I supposed they weren’t Transcendents in name only.

“I’m Cilia, the second daughter of the House of Viscount Evanroar. And this child is Axion.”

“Oh, r-right.”

“You said earlier that only people related to the ‘Day of the Rift’ were allowed to be here. Is that correct?”

“That’s right.”

I lightly pinched the hem of my skirt and gave them a noblewoman’s greeting.

The boy looked flustered and hurriedly bowed his head.

“I somehow became involved with the ‘Day of the Rift’ because of a certain dog of a man. Since there might still be traces of the monsters’ influence left on me, I came to see the Saintess.”

“Oh, really? Then I suppose you’re Morocanil’s companion? There’s no way Dazar would have brought someone here.”

Morocanil?

So he was a Transcendent too.

Then, was he currently here in the temple?

‘If I meet him, I can give him the stone right away.’

I was thinking that while fiddling with the stone inside my pocket when Kora suddenly shook her head.

“No. Morocanil already met the Saintess early this morning and went into the capital. Then this person must be Dazar’s guest……”

He wasn’t in the temple?

“Really? Did he say where he was going?”

“U-Um? You mean Morocanil?”

“Yes!”

Kora had been mumbling that I must be Dazar’s guest, but she blinked at my question with a blank expression.

“Uhh…… Morocanil always goes there whenever he comes to the capital. That shop called the Three-Second Poisoning Place.”

‘Give Me Three Seconds and I’ll Poison You to Death!’

The place where I had met Morocanil.

I suddenly grew anxious.

“He’s there right now?”

“Yeah. He goes there every day and hogs all the reservations, so that shop is already booked up until next year. They’re all Morocanil’s reservations, you know? So it’s become a problem for me too…… Huh? Wait, where are you going?”

I didn’t listen to the rest of Kora’s words and quickly started walking.

“I’m sorry, but something urgent just came up. I’ll be going first!”

“Ah! Hey, intruder!”

Eishu hurriedly called after me and chased after me, but he stopped dead in his tracks at the words I threw over my shoulder.

“I really am Dazar’s guest. He should probably still be in the temple, so you can ask him.”

Apparently, there was someone who would actually come to the ‘Day of the Rift’ with a guest, despite being a human scumbag like Dazar!

For a moment, I could almost see those words flash across Eishu’s face.

Leaving the two of them standing there in confusion, I quickly walked down the corridor they had come from.

If I went in the direction they had come from, I should eventually find the exit.

“Huff, huff.”

Fortunately, I successfully escaped the temple without getting lost.

The shop called the Three-Second Poisoning Place wasn’t as far from the temple as I had expected, and thanks to walking quickly while carrying Axion, I hadn’t wasted that much time either.

At least, that was what I thought.

But……

“Huh……?”

Jingle.

I hurriedly opened the door and entered the shop, but I couldn’t hide my disappointment.

Morocanil, whom I had expected to find inside, was nowhere to be seen.

“He must have already left.”

On the counter where Morocanil’s stone had previously been placed, there was only a small sign that read, ‘Reservations Full.’

I lowered my shoulders slightly and had no choice but to leave the shop again.

“Oh dear, Axion. Mama came here too quickly, so you must have been uncomfortable, huh?”

“Uung!”

“Come on, let’s put you down here.”

Even with my iron arms and iron legs, continuously carrying a baby required quite a lot of stamina.

I had just put Axion down and was patting my shoulders when a small boy walking past with his head bent deeply to the side hurried by and bumped into my shoulder.

“……I’m sorry.”

“Oh, it’s okay.”

Since I was the one standing in the middle of the street without watching where I was going, I lightly waved my hand.

Then I turned into an alley and leaned my back against the wall.

I had walked too quickly, so I figured I would rest for a little while before leaving.

And just then—

“Whoosh. I heard the whisper of fate calling to me, so I came here, only to find my little bluebird waiting for me!”

A voice so greasy it sounded as though the speaker had eaten ten sticks of butter struck my ears.

The voice was so greasy and dreadful that goosebumps rose along the back of my neck.

I creakily turned my head toward where the voice had come from.

“Greetings!”

A man with a face slick with oil stood crookedly at the entrance of the alley, stroking his mustache with his index finger.

Behind him stood several muscular men who appeared to be his subordinates.

“……Who are you?”

“Ahhh. I suppose you could call me a gentleman who helps little blossoms like yourself.”

“…….”

“Hehehe. Are you surprised, little fawn? A refined gentleman has suddenly appeared before you.”

If I listened to him any longer, I might actually go deaf.

I quickly picked Axion up and took a step back, intending to get away from him.

But at that very moment, a thick hand landed on my shoulder.

“Oh, oh. Don’t be afraid, little fawn. The reason I suddenly appeared before you like this is……”

I could tolerate the greasy voice and manner of speaking to some extent.

But I could not tolerate being touched without permission.

I actively put my iron legs to use—the same iron legs that had even worked against the Transcendent Dazar.

THUD!

“ARGH!”

“Captain! Are you all right?”

The mustached man, who had been struck in the shin, hopped around on one leg while clutching his injured leg before losing his balance and collapsing onto the ground.

“Uuugh……”

“How dare you put your hands on me? I ought to cut your wrist off.”

“No, that’s not it. I……”

As the man—whether he was the captain of the guards or whatever—groaned in pain and tried to make excuses,

“Grab that woman!”

“No, wait, you guys! Just, just a second……”

Perhaps unable to bear watching their superior suffer, his subordinates came rushing toward me all at once.

The mustached man belatedly shouted something, but in the heat of the moment, his voice didn’t seem to reach them.

I widened my eyes and hugged Axion tightly.

Just try coming any closer. I’ll turn you into the same kind of pervert as that guy!

I was just about to start kicking my legs wildly when—

“Everyone, please calm down.”

A white petal gently landed on top of my head.

……Or at least, that was what it felt like.

In the next moment, countless petals came fluttering down around us.

But they only looked like flower petals.

The moment they touched the ground, they scattered and disappeared……

They were divine powers given tangible form.

A powerful force that radiated an aura similar to the divine power Dazar had shown me before.

‘Dazar……?’

Thinking that Dazar had come to save me again, I abruptly raised my head.

“Fancy seeing you again.”

“Morocanil?”

But the person who had appeared before me wasn’t the human scumbag Dazar.

Amid the sacred petals fluttering through the air, a handsome blond man had suddenly appeared within arm’s reach.

This time, he really did look like an angel.

He smiled kindly and extended his hand toward me.

“Hello, Lady Evanroar.”
