“Yaaay! Family triiip! Sion, are you excited? Hmm?”

“Waa!”

Vanilla seemed to be incredibly excited. She kept bouncing on her feet while holding Axion’s hand, her face bright with an innocent smile. Thanks to that, Dazar, who was holding Vanilla, was looking increasingly miserable.

“Family trip! Family trip! Vanilla’s heart is going thump-thump!”

“Dua! Dua!”

Perhaps he was copying Vanilla as she bounced on her feet, but Axion began stomping his little feet too. It was incredibly cute.

Though it did hurt a little since I was the one holding him and getting kicked by those tiny feet.

I smiled awkwardly and said,

“O-our Axion. Are you excited because you’re going on a trip with your big sister?”

“Waa!”

Axion smiled brightly as if he understood what I was saying.

Oh, my precious baby.

I was about to smile back at him when a sullen voice came from beside me.

“Enough with the small talk. Can we go now?”

It was Dazar, who was standing right beside me. He held out his hand toward me.

“How long are you planning to stand here?”

“Why are you so impatient? I just want to enjoy some leisurely time before the trip.”

“You’re not doing that.”

“Huh?”

Dazar tilted his head to the side and continued.

“You don’t want to hold my hand, do you? Good grief. You had no problem holding Vanilla’s hand. Don’t you think you’re being a little discriminatory?”

“I-I never discriminated against you! And that’s not why I don’t want to hold your hand!”

I said that, but a corner of my heart pricked as if it had been poked by a needle.

He really does notice things quickly.

We were currently standing facing each other in a small open area. I was holding Axion, while Dazar was holding Vanilla.

We were supposed to fly straight to that secret island from here.

What? We’re not taking a boat?

The currents around there are too strong. You can’t get there by boat.

Ah. The currents……

The worker who had been Silvestain’s informant had also said that his ship had been wrecked and that he had reached the island by chance. Apparently, the island itself was difficult to access.

Then how are we supposed to get there? By flying……?

In this world, flying wasn’t particularly difficult. There were even ways to teleport using magic. But Dazar had said that he had placed a barrier around the island, so no magic could work there.

Then how on earth were we supposed to get there?

When I had been wondering that, Dazar hadn’t given me an answer. Instead, he had simply told me to prepare to leave and come here.

“Like I said, take my hand.”

He had been pestering me to hold his hand for a while now.

Or, to be precise……

Dazar was saying that he would “tear open space” while we remained in contact with each other.

Apparently, if I was touching Dazar when he tore through space, I could travel with him as long as he allowed it.

“……Ahem.”

But after the strange incident between us just yesterday, I felt strangely reluctant to take his hand.

I didn’t know why.

It was just that those golden eyes from right in front of my face kept overlapping with everything I saw.

Last night, I had even dreamed that a pair of enormous golden eyes were floating around and chasing me.

“Then are you not going? Well, that old butler suddenly can’t go either. You two can stay behind at the estate and get along.”

Dazar withdrew his hand and abruptly turned his head away.

“Nooo! We have to go together! It’s a family trip!”

Vanilla immediately cried out with a pout.

Then she quickly reached out, grabbed my awkwardly raised hand, and pulled it toward Dazar.

Before I knew it, I was in a position that looked as though I were stopping him from running away.

I pressed my lips together.

“Fine, let’s go. I said I’m going.”

Ugh. Whatever.

I awkwardly extended the hand that somehow felt like it didn’t belong to me and carefully took Dazar’s.

Perhaps because his hand was so large, the way I held it felt awkward, like a child holding an adult’s hand.

Dazar then properly closed his hand around mine. Apparently, he had noticed the awkwardness too.

His hand is really big.

I had noticed it from time to time, but now that I was actually holding it, it looked especially large and long.

And…… strangely beautiful.

No. What do you mean, beautiful?

Something has definitely gone wrong with me since yesterday.

I clicked my tongue inwardly and glared at Dazar.

Seeing my displeased expression, Dazar gave me a mischievous smile and whispered in a somewhat sly voice,

“Fine. Let’s go. Family trip.”

“Fa……!”

Of course, I was secretly grateful to Vanilla for suggesting a family trip because I needed to get to the island!

But I had absolutely no intention of actually going on a “family trip” with him!

However, before I could shout, What the hell do you mean, family trip?! an eerie sensation washed over me and interrupted my attempt.

My vision flickered black.

Ah…… But, wait. Is it okay to leave without telling Morocanil anything……?

He had said he came here as Dazar’s monitor, after all.

In the flickering world around me, I abruptly let go of the thread of my thoughts.

“Duri is married! Sion is my little brotheeer!”

“Umm……. Okay?”

I kept insisting inwardly that this whole family-trip nonsense was ridiculous.

But the moment we arrived at the Siaster family’s secret island, we didn’t even have time to look around before Vanilla asked us to go to the beach.

……For a game of house.

“This one is Dazar’s. Since you’re married, Dazar has to feed Mama.”

“……Why am I just Dazar, while she’s Mama? You said we’re married. Shouldn’t I be called Papa, then?”

Dazar raised an eyebrow as he asked.

His face looked rather intimidating, but he was crouching on the sand while holding a child-sized shovel for playing in the sand in one hand, so he wasn’t frightening at all.

It was so ridiculous that I had been desperately suppressing my laughter for a while now.

“No! Dazar is Dazar! He’s not Vanilla’s Papa!”

Dazar’s logic was flawless, but it had absolutely no effect on Vanilla. She vigorously shook her head, making it clear that such a thing was absolutely impossible.

Dazar raised both hands slightly and sighed as though he had lost.

“Fine. Fine. Here. Eat this, my wife.”

With that, he roughly dug up some sand with the shovel and handed it to me. The shovel was serving as a spoon.

We had wanted to play house, but there hadn’t been a proper play set for it, which was how this situation had come about.

Apparently displeased with Dazar’s manner of speaking, Vanilla put both hands on her waist and shouted,

“That’s not how you say it! You have to say it more nicely! A husband has to speak nicely to his wife!”

“…….”

“And you have to get close like this and say it!”

As she spoke, Vanilla firmly pushed Dazar.

No matter how much of a Transcendent Vanilla was, there was no way Dazar would actually be pushed back by her strength.

“Yeah, yeah.”

Dazar seemed to have given up after being trapped in the game of house for so long right after arriving.

Until a moment ago, he had at least seemed to have some fighting spirit left.

He moved his legs little by little as Vanilla pushed him closer to me.

Dazar walking around while crouched down was just as hilarious as expected.

He must have noticed the corners of my mouth trembling too.

Judging by the way he narrowed his eyes as he spoke.

“……Don’t laugh. I’m serious.”

“Ahem!”

I tried to avert my gaze from him as much as possible, but Vanilla urged him on.

“Hurry!”

“Wiiiife. Eat this. It’s a stew filled with vegetables I personally grew just for you.”

Was he going for the concept of a man who personally grew vegetables and cooked for his wife?

With the corners of his mouth lifted as he pretended to be affectionate, Dazar actually looked rather gentle at first glance.

It didn’t suit him at all.

I elegantly pretended to eat the sand he held out to me.

I saw Vanilla nod with a satisfied expression.

Phew. Did I pass?

During the brief lull, I looked toward the villa in the distance.

The villa could be called modest compared to the Siaster estate, but it was so clean that it was hard to believe no one had been tending to it.

On top of that, the island was pleasantly warm, almost as if it were spring.

It feels like an entirely different dimension.

I wish Carl could have come with us too.

Apparently, he had overworked himself recently and suddenly developed a fever, so we had left him behind at the estate to rest.

Uuuugh. We can’t possibly send the two of you off like this…….

Just rest quietly and get plenty of sleep, Carl.

Carl had looked rather pitiful as he said that while trembling and clutching a bottle of fish-shaped tonic.

We watched the children playing in the sea, then entered the villa around sunset.

Everyone will probably collapse from exhaustion on the first day.

That very night, on the day we arrived, I decided to put into action the plan I had been making ever since before we came to this island.

I was worried that I couldn’t leave Axion alone because Carl hadn’t been able to come, but there was always a way to slip away somehow.

I just had to wait until Axion fell asleep.

First, I had to sneak out of this villa.

All right. If I quietly make my way down this hallway and then go downstairs…….

After confirming that Axion was sleeping soundly, I left the room.

My room was at the very end of the hallway, so to reach the stairs, I had to pass Dazar and Vanilla’s room.

Gulp.

I swallowed nervously.
