After an eventful vacation, I walked to school with Jane as usual.

“Jane.”

“Yeah?”

I was about to ask if she knew of any high-ranking nobles with silver hair and blue eyes, but then I shut my mouth.

“Nothing.”

“Mmm. Let’s get going. It’s our first day, and we’re going to be late.”

Jane smiled and took my hand.

I wondered if she knew the man’s identity. I was curious about his name, which is why I wanted to ask her if she knew.

But the moment I started to ask, I felt like I was prying, so I stopped.

Even without asking Jane, it would have been easy to find out if he was indeed a high-ranking noble.

Well, knowing his identity wouldn’t change anything between him and me.

I decided that was probably a good thing.

“Oh, right. There’s something I forgot to tell you, Leen.”

“What is it?”

Jane looked around, then lowered her voice and began to speak.

“There’s a girl who’s returning to school with me this semester, and if she ever tries to get close to you, just punch her in the face and run away from her. You have to be careful.”

“I don’t know her, but why should I be careful?”

I said, scratching my head, puzzled. Then Jane’s voice grew more cautious.

“She’s got a bit of a crush on Carson.”

“Aha.”

…He’s pretty damn popular, too.

I shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly.

“But I don’t think any of the other kids have tried to pick a fight with me since the last expulsion.” (Leen)

“Don’t be surprised. She took a leave of absence to be in the same grade as Carson.”

“What?”  (Leen)

She took a year off just to be in the same grade? Oh, that’s crazy.

It’s a big world and there are a lot of crazy people out there.

Jane was right, and it was time to be careful.

“By the way, Leen.”

“Huh?” (Leen)

Jane cocked her head as if she couldn’t believe her eyes.

“Are you sure one of the academy buildings actually collapsed?”

“Yep. Caon restored the partially ruined building on the spot.” (Leen)

I thought he was joking about being able to restore buildings, but he proved it right before my eyes.

I watched in awe as the shattered remains of the buildings were pieced back together, as if time had been turned back.

It wasn’t magic, it looked like the power of a god, which meant it was spectacular.

Jane frowned, amazed, “Is that possible?”

“I knew Caon was good at magic, but I didn’t realize it was that great.” (Leen)

Not genius-level, more like inhuman-level.

Still, the way the mana materialized around Carson’s body showed just how much mana he was blessed with.

Add to that a brilliant mind, and it would be strange if his magical skills weren’t up to par.

Instead of feeling distant, I felt a surge of pride in his amazing abilities.

“What’s wrong with Caon?” (Leen)

I asked, hoping Jane would respond, but she glanced away.

“I don’t know…”

“You don’t have any idea either, do you?” (Leen)

Then Jane shuddered in horror.

“Leen. I honestly think you’re much better than Carson, except for your family name.”

“…I appreciate the compliment, but I think you need to objectify me a bit.” (Leen)

She said explaining, looking serious, “No, I’m serious, and besides, Carson is missing the most important thing about being human.”

“The most important thing?” (Leen)

“Humanity.”

I narrowed my brow, countering her statement.

“What’s wrong with our Caon’s humanity? I mean, sure, he’s a little insensitive to others sometimes…” (Leen)

I admitted, feeling like I shouldn’t have said it.

“I think ‘a little’ is a misleading word.”

At Jane’s sternness, I quietly pouted.

At least I’ll give her that much.

🌸

The first day ended quickly, thanks to the lack of classes.

Once placed in a class, students stay in that class until graduation, so there’s not much time to adjust.

As for clubs, for the time being, it was the application and change period, so there was no need to attend.

I stopped by the clubroom before heading to my dorm as a matter of habit.

“Huh? Everyone’s already here.”

Both Carson and Fjord were in the clubroom. Their eyes snapped to me.

“Leen’s finally here?” (Carson)

Carson greeted me with a smirk. I raised a hand in greeting and stepped inside.

“Carson and I meet in the clubroom every day, so that’s one thing, but what brings you here, Fjord?” (Leen)

“Oh, well, I guess it’s not like I’m here where I’m not supposed to be, right?”

“That’s true.” (Leen)

I shook my head in agreement, and Fjord grinned.

“I was worried you wouldn’t come, but I’m glad you did. I had something to tell you.”

Fjord’s face looked a little bitter as he said it, and I realized that his appearance had changed a lot since I’d seen him.

I tossed my bag roughly and sat down on the couch.

“What do you want to talk about?” (Leen)

“I’m applying for the advance semester program.”

“Advance semester program?” (Leen)

My eyes widened in surprise.

It was an unexpected and unconventional move. But it wasn’t my place to tell him what to do.

“May I ask why you suddenly decided to make such a choice?” (Leen)

Arena Academy’s monthly class system was a bit unusual.
