My Daddy Hides His Power Chapter 336 - Side story Part 2 Chapter 32 (END)

A bright and sunny weekend.

The warp gate chamber of the capital temple.

Today is the day Dad returns from the Teneba Kingdom, where he went on business.

Together with my husband, I’m waiting with a racing heart for Dad to arrive through the gate from the city bordering the kingdom.

“Don’t do that in front of the Duke.”

“Pfft! What…, don’t do that? Ahahaha!”

Oh, this is hilarious. Teasing my husband is the most fun thing in the world.

“That… shooting arrows…”

“Ugh! Puhahahahaha…”

I doubled over laughing, then mimicked drawing a bowstring toward the empty air.

“Ha.”

Cheshire washed his face dry.

“Let’s not actually shoot—just draw the string. That’s the plan, right? Shoot in sync with Zephyr and Walter’s lifespans.”

My and Cheshire’s beloved horses, Zephyr and Walter, have moved to the stable at our new home and are still living in good health.

They’re thirteen this year. Since their breed is said to easily run until they’re twenty-five, we devised a wonderful “plan” to accommodate that!

“Okay, so let go of my hand.”

Cheshire took my hand and let it go.

“How are you today, Four Star?”

“No, ha!”

Cheshire bit his lip and let out a nervous chuckle at the cute nickname.

“I can’t stay still, and it’s all because of you.”

“Ah, that’s a lie. Four Star is always… every single day… whenever she sees me…”

“The Duke is here.”

“Ah?”

He’s here! I grabbed my suitcase, spotted the silver-haired handsome man emerging from the warp gate, and dashed toward him.

“Daaaad!”

“Daaaad!”

“Princeeeess!”

Enoch quickly set down his suitcase, ran over, and caught Lilith—who was stomping her feet in excitement—in a familiar embrace, spinning her around in circles.

“Princess, I missed you!”

“Me too!”

The sight of the steadfast father and daughter. Cheshire, smiling as he approached, nodded in greeting to Enoch, who raised his hand with a glance.

“Did you finish your work successfully? Are you going to install a warp gate in the kingdom now?”

“Of course!”

Enoch set Lilith down and gave her a thumbs up.

“Wow, Dad’s the best!”

“Whose dad are you talking about! Ah, by the way, did Jamie get back safely? Dad didn’t want to keep leaving him with Grandfather, so I ended up relying on you guys a bit.”

“Mhm, he got back safely. Don’t mention it. Taking care of Jamie was such a joy. He’s so cute and well-behaved that I felt like I could keep looking after him forever.”

“Really?”

“Yes, Duke.”

Cheshire approached, picking up Enoch’s suitcase that he had set down.

“He was really cute.”

“…”

As if thinking of Jamie, Cheshire smiled with an uncharacteristic blush.

“…Ahem, yes.”

Enoch’s mind briefly drifted apart as the memory of his son-in-law’s merciless peck on his cheek flashed back, but he quickly regained his composure.

“I’m glad you’re doing well.”

“Dad, take this.”

“Hmm?”

Lilith, clinging tightly to Enoch’s arm, held out a pretty pink envelope.

“What? Did you write a letter to Dad?”

“Mhm!”

There’s probably no father as used to receiving letters from his child as Enoch. His daughter never held back—whether in words of affection or heartfelt messages written down.

“Thank you. Can I read it now?”

“No! Later. Read it alone at home. I’m a little embarrassed.”

“Huh?”

But today, even while handing over her familiar letter, she blushed and twisted her body shyly—it felt a little different.

“Today’s letter is from a daughter who’s tried to understand her dad’s feelings a little and wrote it with all her heart.”

“Haha, what’s that?”

“Looking after the baby made me realize something new. That’s why I couldn’t help but write a letter to Dad.”

Lilith hugged Enoch tightly.

Enoch chuckled and hugged his adorable daughter back.

“Sounds like you had an amazing time with Jamie. He’s so little—wasn’t it tough?”

“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t hard, but he was so beautiful I didn’t really notice. Right, honey?”

“Mhm.”

Cheshire nodded, thinking of Jamie.

“It was nice that Lilith and Jamie saw me off in the morning when I left for work. Though it was a bit hard because it made me want to get home quickly.”

“Wow, was it really that bad?”

“Yeah, that’s about it! Our Jamie was so cute—you even made plans for kids?”

“W, what? Already? You mean, right now?”

“Ah, no, not that. I’m still busy with work. You know Zephyr and Walter are only thirteen right now, right?”

“Mhm.”

“Our kids should be just the right age to ride when those two are still healthy and running strong.”

“Aha, so you’re saying you made plans for kids based on Zephyr and Walter’s lifespans?”

“That’s right!”

According to the plan, they’ll enjoy their honeymoon for about three to four years.

Lilith grinned.

“Well, of course…”

Of course, even if you were to have a baby on your 100th day, you wouldn’t be able to pick stars if you couldn’t see the sky.

But fortunately, I managed to catch a glimpse of that sky! And once I saw it, I couldn’t stop looking!

For reference, the “club” was renamed “Four Star” by Cheshire because he was too embarrassed.

“Shoot.”

Swallowing all the gossip, Lilith looked up at the sky and pretended to draw back the bowstring.

And then, towards the stars.

“Piyung~!”

Fire!

“Hmm?”

His daughter’s mysterious gesture.

What? Enoch tilted his head,

“Duke!!!”

“Ugh! Hahaha…”

No wonder Cheshire grabbed Lilith by the waist and hurriedly hid her behind his back.

“…Why, why, Cheshire?”

“Let’s head straight to the Eastern Temple. Your father and the Lord of the Wizard Tower are waiting. Since the Duke is returning today, I’ve made a restaurant reservation in Parman.”

“Yeah. But it’s nothing, so why are you being so serious?”

“No, it’s nothing. Let’s go.”

The son-in-law walked, breaking into a cold sweat, as he forced his way between his playful wife and her father.

* * *

Smooch smooch smooch smooch ♥ (with what looks like an actual lipstick kiss mark next to it).

Hello, Dad! Daddy’s princess, here she is!

I’m writing this letter today, filled with my love for you.

Yes, this is a letter I’m writing because I was thinking of you while caring for baby Jamie.

Our James—suddenly without a house, without money, and taking care of a baby for the first time—how on earth did he manage it all alone?

Dad, I’m about the same age you were back then. But if you ask me whether I could raise a baby on my own as gracefully as you did—no. I absolutely couldn’t.

And that’s when I realized it all over again.

Dad, you’re truly amazing and admirable.

You threw yourself into a life you’d never lived before without a second thought for my sake, and in the end, you raised me into such an incredible adult.

I’m grateful, and yet, I’m sorry.

At twenty, I barged into your life when I was far too young. From that moment, your life revolved solely around me.

I wish you could have enjoyed a little more of your own world. I came in too quickly, and I became all of you, your entire world.

I remembered Dad sending me off into my husband’s hands at the wedding as I handed Jamie back to his mother.

It probably wasn’t the same, but I’m sure Dad felt a sense of emptiness when he let me go, too.

I’m sorry for becoming your whole world so quickly, and then making you feel like I left just as fast.

But, Dad, I’m always here. I’ll be forever within your world.

I am…

……

East, Palman Riverside Park.

A red sports car stood waiting, looking stylish.

“Haha, it’s been a while, everyone!”

Enoch exchanged a silent glance with Oscar in the driver’s seat and Axion in the passenger seat of the convertible with its roof open.

Let’s do our best, kids.

Don’t make any mistakes.

“Master! Do you remember the restaurant we went to with Jamie last time? I made a reservation there~”

“Okay, get in quickly.”

“Yeah, but.”

Cheshire paused as he opened the backseat door.

“It’ll be hard to fit everyone in.”

“Ugh. I see.”

Lilith scratched her head.

“Oops! The car model I had in mind when I picked this one originally didn’t have a practical backseat. I should’ve imagined something a little more flexible, considering we’d have more people.”

“Can’t you get in at all? Just squeeze in somehow.”

“Master, that won’t work—Dad and my husband are way too big. Unless Dad suddenly turns into a baby, it’s going to be a bit difficult.”

Heuk…

At that moment, the three men’s hearts sank to the floor.

“But!”

Lilith laughed and linked arms with Enoch.

“I’m Daddy’s baby! I can just ride on his lap\~!”

“Ahahaha! Isn’t our princess a genius? That’s a really good idea, isn’t it?~”

Having just gotten over that little hurdle, Enoch climbed into the car and sat his overjoyed daughter on his lap.

Soon after, Lilith drew an imaginary bowstring toward the air, and Cheshire quickly grabbed hold of her arm.

“Princess, what the heck is this? Are you going to be an archer?”

“What on earth is this? She’s been doing that nonstop for the past four days. Don’t tell me—you’re preparing to change jobs?”

“Haha! Son, check if there’s an opening in the archer corps. She’s really got the form down.”

The three men, desperate to distract Lilith, each added a congratulatory remark.

“It’s nothing…”

And then there was one man who desperately wished everyone would just ignore his wife’s splendid archer play.

Between them.

“Off we go~!”

At the mischievous voice that finally loosed the bowstring toward the sky, the red sports car sped off along the riverside.

I am a tree that grew in the world called Dad, rooted in the land called Dad.

As I grew, I saw sunlight, felt the wind, the snow, and the rain, and encountered a vast and boundless world.

But the place where my roots have always been is Dad’s land. When I’m tired and need to rest, when I need to return, the place that embraces me is Dad’s world.

In my next life, I want to be born as Dad’s daughter again. I’ll grow strong in Dad’s land and become the tallest, most beautiful tree in his world.

I love you.

I really love you, Dad.
