BJ Villainess Chapter 161

Author: alyalia

During the tense war of nerves, a new island crashed again. The sky was so clear and beautiful, but the sudden catastrophe without any warning hardened everyone’s expression.

Samuel opened his mouth. “As you can see, the heavenly world is perishing. We’re lucky that an uninhabited island fell this time, but next time, it might be an island inhabited by angels.”

What if the central city falls? What would happen if the island with central headquarters fell?

Samuel looked down at the continent. “Look there. New cracks are sprouting up everywhere.”

Indeed, ominous-colored dimensional cracks were appearing across the continent like mold.

I thought the island falling was timely, but these cracks appearing so quickly don’t match the scenario. Why is the destruction approaching so rapidly?

Moreover, Samuel’s indifferent expression was extremely irksome. Clyde, seeming to share the same thought, narrowed his eyes and sharply retorted.

“So you’re going to put a powerless angel on the altar on the basis of delusion? And if your guess is wrong, will you just dismiss it as bad luck?”

“I don’t understand why you’re doing this, Clyde. If that angel is a god, the heavenly world could be complete without your sacrifice. Why are you obstructing me?”

Clyde’s answer was succinct. “Obviously, because I love her.” Then, as if to prove his words, he kissed my forehead tenderly.

Samuel chuckled in disbelief. “Love? Are you serious?”

“Can’t you see? So you’d better not think about putting this woman on the altar.”

[The Constellations supporting the ‘Clyde’ route are going crazy.]

I felt extremely unsettled. What’s wrong with him all of a sudden? For now, Clyde seemed to have some kind of plan, so I kept silent. Still, I didn’t understand why he was doing this.

Samuel, considering Clyde’s talk about love is insane, asked in a tone filled with strong contempt. “So, you choose a path where we all die together?”

“Of course not. Let’s stick to what we agreed to do in the first place.”

By agreement, he meant his sacrifice to sustain the heavenly world.

Zakari, who had been guarding Clyde and keeping the elders in check, showed clear anger. “If the best solution to resolve this situation is using angels as sacrificial offerings, then let’s just  return back to the celestial, Archangel Samuel.”

“You’re speaking out of line to your father.”

“Does blood relation even matter to angels?”

Then Clyde flicked a glance somewhere. “Let’s move to another place first. Move.”

The place where Clyde brought everyone was on the first floor of the Tower of Light. The tower, filled with golden sunlight, had an atmosphere of utmost solemnity. The center of the first floor especially had a golden altar, where round light fell from the ceiling in a straight line.

Clyde let me stand on the ground. “Now I will die. Let’s make a soul-bound contract that you will not touch Theresa.”

“Clyde!”

Zakari’s angry shout made Clyde shake his head at him, signaling not to interfere. Zakari tried to approach but was blocked by the elder angers.

Samuel smiled satisfactorily. “Good. Let’s make a contract.”

I knew Samuel believed that placing me on the altar would make the heavenly world an independent dimension. But why would he accept such a contract?

A soul-bound contract, if not fulfilled, leads to being corrupted and falling into hell. Therefore, it couldn’t be just a temporary measure to appease Clyde. But it also seemed unlikely Samuel would keep his promise sincerely. Does he think it’s okay to be corrupted?

The independence of the heavenly world was Samuel’s long-held desire. He might be willing to risk being corrupted for that. So, there was a good chance he would think it didn’t matter if he was being corrupted.

I turned to Clyde with a mixed expression on my face. But he already seemed to know that Samuel would not keep his promise.

He created this situation on purpose.

To die first.

To save me and Ilya.

Realizing this, my heart sank. It was expected, yet shocking. I wasn’t ready for his death. The situation in the heavenly world was too sudden, and I wasn’t brave enough to face his demise.

Tears fell uncontrollably as soon as I realized what Clyde wanted. My heart ached as if congested. In the meantime, Clyde had signed a soul-bound contract with Samuel.

“Go to the altar now.”

Clyde strode towards the altar, too detached about his impending death. I was startled and grabbed his cloak. “Already?”

Clyde stopped, turned to me, and said, “Don’t cry like a fool.”

We were right before the altar, but he was smiling despite being on the brink of death. He was overwhelmed by a mix of guilt, relief, slight unease, compassion, sorrow, and resignation. Despite the internal turmoil, Clyde looked down with a mischievous smile.

“Shall we show them how much we love each other?” He seemed to be buying time as if waiting for something.

“How…?”

“Kiss me.”

Without hesitation, I tiptoed and pressed my lips against his. The warmth of the kiss made me vividly feel Clyde’s emotions. It was intended to shut up the archangels and buy the necessary time. But his emotions swept me away. A sorrowful yet ecstatic, brilliant yet painful ecstasy shivered through me. It was like an enlightening bolt, transforming each cell into a new life.

It was the moment I realized an intense, feverish first love that could never go back. Love realized through someone else’s emotions was so intense and destructive that it even brought fear.

Finally, our lips parted, and we looked at each other. Tears flowed down Clyde’s blue eyes.

“So this is what love feels like.” He resented and lamented why he had to realize this in the last moment of his life. Yet, he loved her beyond all these negative emotions. A love so strong that you couldn’t bear not expressing it.

Not wanting to waste time complaining, Clyde, swept away by his feverish realization, tried to kiss me again. But just before our lips met, Clyde cursed softly and jumped onto the altar.

Boooom!!! Immediately, Ilya appeared and swept the area with his power.

Aargh!”

Keugh…”

The elder angels tried to defend themselves, but half were swept away by the force.

Lord Ilya!… Huh? I couldn’t speak. Clyde cast a silent spell when he kissed me.

On the altar, Clyde knelt on one knee, facing Ilya. “You’re here.”

“Get down from there.” Ilya continued, stepping over Samuel’s chest, who was about to raise himself. “Your sacrifice changes nothing, Clyde. These b*stards have ruined the celestial tree.”

“!”

Only then did I realize why the island had suddenly crashed and cracks had appeared.

With his bloodied lips grinning wickedly, Samuel said, “What does it matter if I cut down a useless celestial tree?”

He must have done it because of me. He thought putting me on the altar would instantly revive the celestial tree.

Holding the sword he had since appeared, Ilya pressed it against Samuel’s throat. “Shut up, Samuel.” Ilya’s usual respectful demeanor was nowhere to be seen.

Clyde murmured bitterly. “You should have come a bit later.” But the words only incited Ilya’s anger.

“Get down now. I told you it’s a useless sacrifice, but why won’t you listen!”

But it was too late. The light from the altar began to spread into Clyde’s body. Ilya ran towards the altar, unable to believe Clyde’s foolish choice.

Bang! Ilya punched the barrier surrounding the altar. But the softly glowing barrier just rippled without breaking. Even an archangel couldn’t break the altar’s barrier.

Soon, a sunlight-like radiance spread across Clyde’s face. His body, covered in light, turned into golden powder and ascended. He was disappearing.

Bang! Boom! Ilya’s fists were torn and bruised by the barrier’s recoil, but he didn’t stop. He knew it was too late, but he couldn’t stop.

Before completely disappearing, Clyde bid farewell to Ilya and me. “See you later.” Then, he was entirely engulfed by the light.

As the light and barrier faded, Ilya cried out to the empty altar. “Clyde—!”

Clyde had vanished.

  1. So- how does this translate into reality?
If the whole thing is just Ilya’s dream. Why are we reading about Clyde??
