The Baby Fairy is A Villain Chapter 42
The rose garden in the imperial palace was breathtaking.
There were countless flowers, each more beautiful than the last, their scent intoxicating, everything about it was simply amazing.
But honestly, Chesha didn’t remember much.
She wasn’t really in the mood to take it all in.
After learning the truth about Kiern, she suffered a massive psychological blow.
She didn’t even know what kind of spirit she was facing when Kiern pretended to be normal.
Fortunately, she had somehow managed to return safely to the mansion.
She kept thinking, trying to calm her racing mind.
If the Master of the Backworld was Count Basilian, then many of the mysteries that had puzzled her suddenly fit together perfectly.
Why the Basilian family earned the respect of the imperial family, why they rose to become one of the Empire’s three greatest families despite being isolated in the eastern Black Forest—it all made chilling sense now.
But Chesha, having uncovered Count Basilian’s hidden secret, felt nothing but dread.
“Richesia-nim!”
The next night, Hata, transformed into his puppy form, bounded into the bedroom wagging his tail eagerly.
“Hata is back! Hata successfully carried out Richesia-nim’s orders!”
He seemed so excited about the hat he’d made that his little tail wagged even faster.
Twitching his hips, he took a tiny step forward, almost like he was dancing.
“Hata, who’s good at making hats, good at making potions, and good with his hands, is com—”
He stopped mid-song, chuckling and taking a deep breath, because he noticed Chesha sitting quietly on the children’s sofa, her eyes wide open.
Seeing the baby who carried the weight of the world in her gaze, Hata faltered, stammering as he called out softly,
“Ri, Ri, Richesia-nim?”
‘…Hatta.’
Chesha, who hadn’t slept a wink since yesterday, had dark circles under her eyes..
Poor Chesha, her cheeks having grown noticeably thin over just a day and a half, whispered,
“We’ve run away.”
“Run away? Suddenly? But Hata hasn’t even finished making the potion to become an adult yet… Hata still needs more time!”
He was busy fussing over hats and claimed he hadn’t gathered enough materials.
Since Chesha wasn’t planning on escaping by turning into an adult, she spread her hands wide, cutting off his protests.
Hata sighed, finally closing his mouth.
“Kaunt Basilian iz—”
“Yes!”
“Da Mas’ta, I tink.”
“What?!”
The puppy’s ears flopped as he froze in place. Then, clutching his face with his front paws, he let out a dramatic scream,
“Whaaaat?!”
Hata looked like he might faint on the spot, so thin and shocked he seemed ready to collapse. Still, he kept stammering over and over what Chesha had just said.
“Cou, Count Basilian is, the Master….”
The witch fairy Richesia belonged to the Backworld.
A place where all the discarded things of the world gathered on their own.
So maybe “belonging” wasn’t quite the right word, but that was how she felt deep inside.
She actually felt a faint sense of belonging there.
The daughter of a mad fairy.
A being born with chaotic powers, beyond the natural order.
More than anyone else, Chesha was made for the Backworld.
It was the only place where she truly felt safe.
‘But now I’ve deceived the Master of the Backworld.’
When she met the Master, she could hold her head high.
Because she hadn’t done anything wrong.
Even when she stood proud and tall, the moment she learned the trouble was caused by Hilon, she lowered her tail and vowed to make it right.
She never claimed to be innocent.
Chesha didn’t want to stir up unnecessary hatred, especially not toward someone like the Master.
But now…
It was a colossal lie.
Not just a lie to anyone else, but a betrayal to the Master.
‘He’ll kill me.’
If he found out the truth, there was no doubt.
He would kill her.
Because she tricked him.
And because she uncovered his true identity.
There was no reason for him to keep her alive.
Both Chesha and Hata were going to be targeted, their necks at risk.
Even if she barely escaped with her life.
The witch fairy was already facing several enemies, including the Holy Empire.
If she also made an enemy of the Backworld,
Chesha would have nowhere left to go.
She would be completely isolated.
‘There’s nowhere to go back to…’
Chesha didn’t have a real home.
Not because she lacked one, but because she never really needed one, always wandering and searching for information about fairies.
Still, the place she thought she could always return to, the place that felt like a heart’s refuge, was the Backworld.
And she didn’t want to be pushed out of even that.
“Owkay. There’s stiww a chance.”
She just had to get away before anyone found out she was the witch fairy Richesia.
Belzeon seemed to be planning to send her away, so she would use him to escape.
Slip out of the mansion quietly and disappear like she was never there.
When things settled down, and Count Basilian stopped looking for her…
Then she could move around freely again as the witch fairy.
While talking seriously with Hata, she came up with a plan to escape from Count Basilian.
For a very short moment, a little regret crossed her mind.
The hat and accessories made by Hata.
The suit and dress that Miya would fix and mend.
They were all such cool things, no need to be checked.
She imagined the Basilian family showing up at a banquet, dressed better than any other aristocratic family
“Because she’s not a Basilian.”
Belzeon’s voice echoed clearly in her mind.
Chesha quickly pushed those useless thoughts away.
***
Baroness Maleyne was a tutor whom Kiern had searched for from many places.
At first, she refused to take on the children’s education.
But Kiern offered so much money that she couldn’t say no.
There was also a quiet curiosity about the Count Basilian family, so after much thought, she finally accepted.
Since the family was from the eastern part of the country, she worried it might be hard to help them adjust to life in the capital.
But surprisingly, the Basilian children were truly sophisticated and clever.
Thanks to that, Baroness Maleyne was having a very satisfying time in her job right now.
“Mmm, good.”
Karha moved slowly in time with Ishuel’s violin.
Though his steps were a bit stiff, his precise, sharp movements matched his personality.
He was good at using his body and picked up the dance steps quickly.
Baroness Maleyne admired how fast Karha was learning, like a sponge soaking up water.
Karha couldn’t hide his boredom, but he did everything seriously.
Soon, it was Ishuel’s turn.
“Your turn.”
Said Karha then he sat at the piano and played music for Ishuel.
Ishuel always performed perfectly, so Baroness Maleyne had nothing to correct.
When Ishuel danced, it was truly a sight to behold.
“Okay, a little smoother there… Yes.”
At the song’s end, Baroness Maleyne applauded warmly.
“Ah, I’m really looking forward to this. At the banquet, all the ladies will ask the young masters to dance.”
Alone, Baroness Maleyne was moved.
The twins exchanged quick looks, imagining the future and getting excited.
They sat on the sofa near Chesha, who was eating snacks.
“Today’s dance lesson ends here.”
As soon as Baroness Maleyne announced the end, the twins hurried over to Chesha.
Or rather, tried to.
“Young masters, please follow me. We’re going to have etiquette class right away. Master Belzeon specially requested it.”
The twins were surprised but followed Baroness Maleyne.
The etiquette class was made up by Chesha.
She lied to Belzeon, saying the twins had been spilling their tea lately.
Using Baroness Maleyne to separate the twins effectively, Chesha moved quickly.
Before leaving the Count of Basilian.
She planned to gather all the information she could and then go.
‘Now that I know Kiern is from the Backworld, I have to completely change how I investigate.’
The Backworld had its own rules, ways that only worked there.
People from the Backworld thought very differently from ordinary folks.
Chesha worried for a moment, wondering if Kiern might be more normal than she thought.
But she quickly shook her head.
‘There’s absolutely no way.’
Thinking from the perspective of someone from the Backworld.
Chesha decided to visit the Black Forest in the east.
