Sunshine Shower Chapter 130 - End

Author: nicotine

Not everyone would be like me. Even though the word “love” could bundle all these feelings together, the emotions involved were far too diverse to share the same hue. It wasn’t a feeling that could be defined with a single word.

So even if I unknowingly revealed my heart transparently, I couldn’t expect Woo Yeonjae to have the same feelings in return.

Moon Seoyoon had always been afraid of relationships fading. Just as love could change over time, so could friendships, but he judged that friendships had a better chance of surviving than romantic relationships.

It was only when faced with this situation that his thoughts began to branch out in different directions.

If his heart had been transparent to Woo Yeonjae, then no matter what color emotions Yeonjae had, perhaps their feelings, even if mixed together, wouldn’t fade. Like raindrops that don’t harm the light they fall through, they might eventually blend into and harmonize with the light Woo Yeonjae exuded.

To Moon Seoyoon, Woo Yeonjae had always been like sunlight. Even if he caused other colors to fade, he himself would never lose his brilliance.

A quiet laugh slipped out between Seoyoon’s lips. He was simply enjoying the unfamiliar expression on Woo Yeonjae’s face.

As Seoyoon looked at Woo Yeonjae’s eyes, which narrowed even more as if confused about why he was laughing, he reached out instead of answering.

Before his arm could fully reach Woo Yeonjae’s neck, their lips met. Woo Yeonjae’s tongue pressed against Seoyoon’s tense, rigid muscles as it awkwardly slid into his mouth. Was this what kissing was like? The act of intertwining tongues felt strange, making Seoyoon feel slightly self-conscious.

But that awkwardness wasn’t unpleasant. The hand that had been awkwardly reaching for Woo Yeonjae’s neck finally found its way to the back of his head. At the same time, Woo Yeonjae tilted his head and licked Seoyoon’s palate, sucking gently on his quivering tongue.

The heat that spread through Seoyoon’s body was unlike anything he had felt during sex. It was then that he realized the warmth rising to his cheeks was signaling the end of his unrequited love.

“Ah…”

Their lips mashed together, and occasionally their teeth bumped, but it still felt good.

Even this clumsy first kiss, the excited breathing, and the sunlight tickling the corners of his eyes—everything.

“Ah…”

Seoyoon didn’t know how to control his breathing, so it started becoming heavier. As he gasped lightly, Woo Yeonjae slowly pulled away. His fingers, which had been cupping Seoyoon’s cheek, moved slowly to wipe the saliva from his lips.

“Was I clumsy?”

Woo Yeonjae tilted his head slightly as he asked.

“…Huh?”

“You were all stiff. I thought maybe it was because I was clumsy.”

Seoyoon blinked.

“…Was that your first kiss?”

Woo Yeonjae gave a crooked smile, as if wondering what kind of nonsense Seoyoon was talking about.

“I hate swapping spit. If it wasn’t you, who else would I do this with?”

“Oh…”

Seoyoon had thought maybe it wasn’t the first kiss, but he hadn’t expected it to be. He couldn’t believe this was Woo Yeonjae’s first kiss.

“Just let it go, even if I’m clumsy. I’m learning quickly.”

Whether Woo Yeonjae understood Seoyoon’s feelings or not, he grinned cheekily and narrowed his eyes. Just as Seoyoon was about to confess that this was his first kiss too, Woo Yeonjae lowered his head again and whispered softly, biting his lip.

“I’ll do better this time.”

As Woo Yeonjae lowered his head, Seoyoon opened his mouth slowly, gazing into the eyes that stared at him intently. Soon, their clumsy breaths mixed together again.

Through their connected lips, quiet laughter was exchanged. For some reason, Seoyoon’s chest felt tingly, and he couldn’t help but smile along with Woo Yeonjae.

The autumn sunlight once again poured over his eyes.

Woo Yeonjae adjusted his watch and briefly checked the mirror. Thanks to spending the entire weekend with Moon Seoyoon, his face looked relatively refreshed. Even though he saw him every day, there was no harm in trying to look a little more attractive.

As he thought of the person he wanted to look good for, the image of a disappearing back in the dormitory flitted through his mind, causing his expression to sour. He had wanted to ask Seoyoon to stay at the studio apartment with him, but since he had made a mistake, he would have to lay low for a while.

‘Just get through this semester… we can live together starting next year.’

Since he had unfairly accused his roommate of being a sex partner, the best thing he could do for now was back off.

He needed to behave.

The opportunity he had managed to seize only came because of Moon Seoyoon’s soft heart. There was no way he was going to ruin it with stupid mistakes during the early stages of their relationship. If he behaved for a few months, Seoyoon would relax, and then, after the second semester ended, he could slowly persuade him to live together. It wouldn’t be difficult after that.

‘Besides, I can use the piano as an excuse.’

It was a piece he had placed in his family’s living room.

Who would have thought that such a simple countermeasure would prove useful in this way? Without that piano, Moon Seoyoon wouldn’t have come to the studio on his own.

‘Maybe I should leave it there for a while.’

When the time came to move out after graduation, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to move it to the place they’d share. Though that place would likely be in the U.S., not Korea.

The problem was that he hadn’t yet gotten a definite answer from Seoyoon about going with him, but fortunately, he still had time. He would figure out a way to make it happen.

“Since things aren’t going well with Professor Moon, it shouldn’t be too hard.”

Over the weekend, Woo Yeonjae and Moon Seoyoon had several meaningful conversations. Since the piano had brought them together, it was only natural for their discussions to include topics related to it. Moon Seoyoon mentioned feeling a bit regretful about accusing his father of infidelity, but Woo Yeonjae reassured him, even placing a kiss on his cheek and saying it was the right thing to do.

It wasn’t only because Woo Yeonjae calculated that this would further strain the relationship between Moon Seoyoon and his father. Moon Seoyoon needed to release the festering wounds he’d kept buried in his heart.

“I probably caused quite a few of them myself,” thought Woo Yeonjae, planning to use that as an excuse to stay by his side for the rest of his life.

Stepping into the living room, Woo Yeonjae checked outside. This fall seemed to bring a lot of rain; once again, it was raining, though not a downpour.

I hate getting wet, he thought, as he hesitated while grabbing his umbrella. After a moment of deliberation, he left it behind and stepped out the door.

By now, Moon Seoyoon should have arrived, so leaving it was the better option. Sharing an umbrella with two grown men would surely get their shoulders wet, but that was a small price to pay. The time spent close to Moon Seoyoon outweighed the discomfort of the rain by far.

When he left the building, he spotted a familiar figure standing upright, waiting for someone. The person was holding a transparent umbrella under the light rain that seemed to fall out of season.

As soon as Woo Yeonjae saw the familiar silhouette, his pace quickened. Raindrops clung to his hair, but he moved without hesitation.

Without a word, he reached out and cupped the pale cheek before him. The gentle eyes widened in surprise—not at his sudden appearance or the unexpected touch, but perhaps just at the gesture itself.

“Did you get caught in the rain?”

So, you knew it was me. The realization sent a wave of indescribable satisfaction through him.

The complete contentment Woo Yeonjae felt at that moment was beyond comparison, surpassing the exhilaration he had experienced when Moon Seoyoon played the piano for him, or the almost frenzied ecstasy he’d felt watching him play.

Why hadn’t he realized this before?

Gripping Moon Seoyoon’s cheek a little tighter, he tilted his head slightly before pressing his lips against his. It was a light, playful kiss, like a child’s game of make-believe.

“What are you doing?”

Startled by the sudden kiss, Moon Seoyoon’s lips broke into a smile as he half-covered Woo Yeonjae with his umbrella. His eyes crinkled in amusement, and his lips curled softly upward, a light blush blooming on his face. A faint laugh and shallow breaths escaped from his slightly parted lips.

“Why?”

Woo Yeonjae intentionally furrowed his brows, pretending to be upset.

“Am I not allowed to kiss my boyfriend?”

Moon Seoyoon was caught off guard by the shameless question. Woo Yeonjae had been audacious plenty of times before, but hearing him casually call him his boyfriend still felt strange. After all, they had known each other as childhood friends for 17 years, and in just a few days, they had become lovers. While Moon Seoyoon felt awkward about this new title, Woo Yeonjae seemed perfectly at ease with it.

“It’s not that… it’s just that we’re outside,” Moon Seoyoon stammered.

“But we’ve got an umbrella.”

“What kind of nonsense is that? It’s transparent.”

At his nonsensical reply, Moon Seoyoon wrinkled his nose, and Woo Yeonjae chuckled softly.

“Okay, okay, I’ll be careful.”

Holding the umbrella, Moon Seoyoon began walking slowly, with Woo Yeonjae squeezing his large frame under the umbrella as well. He couldn’t figure out why Woo Yeonjae hadn’t brought his own umbrella, knowing how much he hated the rain.

Even though he didn’t like getting wet, it looked like the light drizzle would stop soon.

As Moon Seoyoon lifted his head, sunlight gleamed through the transparent umbrella. The sunlight spread across the raindrops, and at the same time, Woo Yeonjae’s warmth pressed against his arm.

When he glanced sideways, their eyes met. Woo Yeonjae, who had been watching him for some time, playfully smiled with narrowed eyes. Moon Seoyoon couldn’t help but laugh at the sight.

It felt like the sunlight spreading over the raindrops was also seeping into his heart.

He continued walking through the rain.

The path ahead may not be as clear as the raindrops hitting the umbrella.

Moon Seoyoon knew that his life had changed in more ways than just his relationship with Woo Yeonjae. When he met Woo Yeonjae’s parents, he would feel apologetic, and the awkward relationship with his father still lingered in his heart, occasionally resurfacing in his thoughts.

But the warmth spreading through his heart, the comforting heat from Woo Yeonjae’s arm around his waist, was far stronger than any anxiety or doubt. Oddly, Moon Seoyoon was confident that his relationship with Woo Yeonjae wouldn’t encounter any major problems. Although many things would change now that they were lovers, and it would take some time to adjust to this new relationship, he was sure that the uncertainty would pass, like a brief sunshower.

A sunshower that, though fleeting, offers a breath of fresh air to some, leaving no lasting impact but allowing the sunlight to shine more brightly in its wake.

So, it was okay to let his mind be unsettled by other concerns. It would all pass eventually.

“Woo Yeonjae.”

When Moon Seoyoon called his name, Woo Yeonjae turned to him immediately, as if he’d been watching him instead of looking ahead. As their eyes met once more, Woo Yeonjae lifted one eyebrow and flashed a mischievous smile.

“Yeah, baby?”

The overly sweet nickname left Moon Seoyoon momentarily speechless, and he stared at Woo Yeonjae in disbelief before breaking into a laugh of defeat.

Woo Yeonjae sidled even closer under the already cramped umbrella, causing the handle to wobble slightly. Raindrops, infused with sunlight, splashed onto their cheeks, but neither of them paid any attention to the tiny droplets. They simply smiled at each other, enjoying the moment.

Moon Seoyoon decided not to run away anymore.

Because Woo Yeonjae was right there by his side.
