Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 110
The room was decorated much like Jaeho’s lab. It was dark, cluttered, and busy.
The only difference was that there weren’t any test capsules.
As Yeon-young stepped a little further in, the first thing she noticed were the photos and papers covering the walls.
As she walked closer, she realized they were all related to research on Negro.
The documents seemed to have multiple interpretations based on a single premise, which was far from spying.
Ryu Won was simply continuing his personal research on Negro.
“Building defenses… The most necessary material for their experiments… World destruction. Safe place.”
Yeon-Young read the words on the wall out loud, then carefully reached out and read the red writing on the paper.
The handwriting was familiar now. She remembered the hand that had barely scribbled the name Iris on the paper, and she forced herself to look away, feeling her heart tighten unnecessarily at the sight of it.
Ryu Won crossed his arms and looked at her.
“You were doing research on your own?”
“Yes. In fact, whether it’s world destruction or salvation, I wanted this mess to be sorted out quickly.”
“That’s a lot of material… Since when do you have…”
A slight wave of dizziness washed over him.
Noticing the subtle change in her condition, he found a rolling chair in the room and guided her to it.
Sitting her in the chair, he leaned back against the wall and shrugged.
She stared at the black mask in her lap. The mask had the faintest hint of emerald in it. The moment Yeon-young saw it, she knew it belonged to Jung Jaeho.
The mask she had found in his study was not his. It was Jung Jaeho’s.
Ryu Won pulled up another chair and placed it in front of her, extending his left hand.
“This should be enough to read my memory, right?”
“Can I?”
“Because it’s better to be sure. I don’t want there to be any damn misunderstandings between us, or any worries about Jung Jaeho, or anything.”
At Ryu Won’s words, Yeon-young dropped the mask and took his hand in hers, her action earning Ryu Won a satisfied smile.
The premise that he was a spy had already been undermined by what Ryu Won had shown her.
Still, there were things Yeon-young wanted to check through her memories.
For example, when did Ryu Won start to suspect and follow Jaeho.
She took a deep breath and dug into his memory.
As soon as she entered Ryu Won’s space, the memories jumped at her as if they’d been waiting for her. Unable to avoid it, she blinked as she was confronted with a memory.
“Yeon-young?”
Yeon-young turned around at the familiar voice calling out to her.
She looked up to see Ryu Won wandering through the cave. Ryu Won’s eyes widened slightly, uncharacteristically, and he looked around. He seemed to be searching desperately for something.
Staring at his palm, he suddenly raised his head and his eyes fluttered open and closed.
“Jung Jaeho.”
At the sound of his name, Ryu Won opened his eyes. His white pupils were glazed over with a fearsome glint.
Suddenly, the place where Ryu Won was standing was familiar. It was the same cave Jaeho had brought Yeon-young to and introduced her to the day before.
He shoved his hands into the pockets of his uniform coat and looked around, the glow of the core in his left hand flickering slightly.
Suddenly, the bewilderment in Ryu Won’s eyes was completely gone.
He brushed past the maze of paths, searching for an exit. He seemed to be finding his way, perhaps by looking for the direction of the wind.
Suddenly, Ryu Won slowed down and headed slowly toward somewhere.
Ryu Won stopped in front of a door.
“I wonder when they made this.”
Yeon-young, who was silently following behind him, sucked in a breath.
The rusted iron gate was imbued with Snarl’s energy. Ryu Won must have sensed it too, because he hardened his expression and stepped closer.
In front of the iron gate was a black mass. As Ryu Won stared at it, the black mass slowly floated in the air.
“Ah…, that’s where you found it.”
Yeon-young muttered softly as she looked at the robe, mask, and golden key floating in midair. The aura was darker and richer than the one she’d seen in Ryu Won’s study.
When Ryu Won set it back down on the floor, a shimmering puff of dust flew up.
The lines between his brows narrowed. Tapping his foot against the iron gate, Ryu Won suddenly turned on his heel.
Moving quickly in the opposite direction of the iron gate, he stood in front of a blank wall.
Ryu Won reached out his hand and touched the wall with confidence.
The stone crumbled away, revealing a secret room.
“I’ve been wasting my time here. I can’t find it.”
Ryu Won stood in front of the secret lab that Yeon-young and Zhaolin had discovered.
Unlike Yeon-young, who freaked out at the sight of the lab, Ryu Won remained calm the entire time. It was as if he had already guessed.
He stared in disbelief at the sight of a soul being torn apart and fused with Snarl inside the capsule. The situation they’d jokingly talked about when they’d written the contract was happening here.
Ryu Won, who had been rummaging through the capsule for some time, suddenly stopped.
“Yeon-young.”
Saying her name into the air, he ran out of the lab and headed for the exit he’d identified from the wind earlier.
He opened the iron door with an ear-piercing clang, revealing another cavern. It was unfamiliar to Yeon-young.
Ryu Won pounded on the walls, breaking something along the way. Finally, he found a lighted exit and slipped out. The cave connected to the hallway on the seventh floor of the center.
Ryu Won immediately opened a teleport to Jaeho’s lab on the fifth floor.
When he opened the doorknob, he saw Yeon-young’s face peeking through the crack, holding the drink Jaeho had made.
Ryu Won felt a sinking sensation in his chest at the sight of her, which seemed to be how he felt when he saw this.
He leaned forward as his chest burned.
Then his memories flew away in fragments.
Ryu Won had known Jaeho was a spy for a very long time.
“Ha…”
Yeon-young breathed out, and a new memory unfolded.
Ryu Won sat cross-legged in a chair in the chairman’s office, deep in thought. In front of him sat Saeri, facing him.
Saeri sipped her tea with a relaxed smile on her face.
Seeing this, Ryu Won said in disbelief.
“You’re the chairman of the board. How long are you going to stand by and watch?”
At Ryu Won’s insistence, Saeri shrugged her shoulders as if it didn’t matter.
He glared at her, finding the sight very distasteful.
“You and I both hate Snarl the same.”
“Then why are you letting him get away with it? Now deal with it.”
“Mmm, I don’t like it when the earth’s energy is tainted, but we don’t know how far Jung Jaeho’s involved, and if we’re going to start, we need to finish. We can’t get to the bottom of Negro’s true nature with this, so stay a little longer.”
“The number of Snarls is alarming. We’re going to turn every soul into a Snarl.”
“It’s a shame about the sacrifice of the little guy for the greater good, but…. It’s inevitable, so let’s make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
“…….”
“Don’t worry. After all, you and I both want the same thing in the end. We’ll get what we want.”
Saeri smiled as she spoke the meaningful words, and Ryu Won stood up from his seat without further comment.
They knew more than she had realized.
Stepping out of the memory space, Yeon-young slowly withdrew her hand.
Ryu Won clenched and unclenched his fist, feeling the emptiness where her hand had gone.
“Don’t deal with him, just run away. He’s not normal either.”
“Don’t stick around Jung Jaeho too much.”
Only now did the words he’d spoken in passing pierce her heart like arrows.
Ryu Won hadn’t said any of them in jest.
Suddenly, Yeon-young felt a sinking feeling deep inside her.
“You really aren’t a spy.”
“What memories did you read?”
“I read that Mr. Ryu Won already knew all of Jung Jaeho’s evil deeds.”
At her answer, Ryu Won’s eyes narrowed slightly, as if he was troubled.
Yeon-young felt her chest tighten. She couldn’t blame anyone.
But she wondered if they could have done something better.
“Neither Saeri nor I expected things to go so bad so quickly.”
“…Ha. You’re right, if we had, we wouldn’t have let it get this far.”
Yeon-young rubbed her temples with her index finger, feeling a headache coming on.
Ryu Won, who was watching, muttered in a very low voice.
“Ms. Yeon-young…, I’m not as good as you believe.”
At his confession, Yeon-young’s hand dropped down. He reached out and pulled her arm toward him.
She was pulled helplessly into his arms.
Ryu Won held her tightly in his arms, unwilling to let go.
“What does Mr. Ryu Won want?”
“For… to disappear from this world completely.”
“I see.”
“To bring back a world filled with goodness so that Ms. Yeon-young won’t turn a blind eye to any danger.”
“…….”
“I’m going to do it no matter what it takes, so I can’t be as good as you.”
“You can be.”
He chuckled lowly at her wishy-washy answer.
Yeon-young pushed against his chest arm and lifted her head to look at him. Despite his answer that he could choose evil, his eyes still held a clear light.
“That’s right, now that you’re with me, Yeon-young,” he said, “so hold onto my leash and shake it.”
“What?”
“Because if you want good and not evil, I’m willing to stand there.”
