Back in the real world, Yeon-young said nothing and took a moment to collect her thoughts. She needed to organize what she needed to do next.

Just then, she felt a faint energy in her hand. She turned her gaze and looked down at her palm.

On it was a tiny soul core. Soft and warm, she knew who it belonged to. It belonged to Ji Hua.

“Is this what the chairman borrowed?”

“What is it?”

Ryu Won tried to make conversation after Yeon-young’s blunt conclusion. She held out her palm to him and showed him the core. He looked at it and didn’t immediately recognize it.

“This is Ms. Ji Hua’s core.”

“…Ahn Ji Hua?”

“It’s a long story, but…. It’s because of Ms. Ji Hua that the chairman, who has lost her strength, is able to be here…”

The more she explained, the more Ryu Won looked lost in a labyrinth. Yeon-young understood his feelings. Who would believe that the god of this world was only borrowing a soul core to disguise herself?

Staring at the tiny core, she suddenly remembered the main body of the core in her pocket. She took it out of her pocket and placed it side by side on the bed.

Yeon-young smiled embarrassedly. She knew it was Ji Hua’s core, but she didn’t know what to do with it.

It was the same for Ryu Won, who looked both embarrassed and disturbed at the same time.

Perhaps the sudden disappearance of Saeri was a big part of the reason.

Yeon-young couldn’t fathom everything in her mind, but she seemed to understand a little.

No one had expected the absolute being who had punished them to disappear like this.

Especially him, the soul who had suffered the longest in the end.

It was only natural that he would be devastated if he had always vowed to kill her if he ever saw her again.

After staring at Ji Hua’s core for a long time, he suddenly spoke up.

“I don’t know what this is all about.”

“Yeah, I know. It’s a mess…. Hmmm. I don’t even know what to do with this.”

“Why don’t we think about it?”

Yeon-young thought back to Saeri’s memory. Saeri had told her that Ji Hua would come to her rescue.

Saeri had pretty much predicted what was going to happen. No, it was more accurate to say that she had guided things to happen.

If that was the case, there was a good chance it wouldn’t be Saeri who would come to Ji Hua’s rescue.

“Will it happen again?”

Yeon-young let out a shallow breath and placed the cores on the bed in her palm.

That’s when an intense light emanated from both cores simultaneously. Yeon-young tilted her head back and frowned.

“Ah.”

“Are you okay?”

Yeon-young groaned at the warmth that touched her eyes. Ryu Won quickly pulled her around the waist and covered her vision with his hand. The light leaking through the gap between his hands grew weaker and weaker.

He lowered his hand and gently pulled Yeon-young into a hug. She fluttered her lashes and opened her eyes.

A small core was slowly seeping into her body. The hole that looked like a tooth had been knocked out filled in as the tiny nucleus seeped in.

She couldn’t take her eyes off the repairing core. Soon, the cores were completely fused together. The cracks were still there, but the body was larger than before, and the light was brighter.

“Has this ever happened before?”

“I’ve never seen one.”

His eyes sparkled with curiosity. Yeon-young slipped out of his arms, turned around, and ran her thumb very carefully over the surface of the core. She looked up at him, her eyes full of questions.

“But if I’ve recovered, why hasn’t anything changed?”

“I don’t know, maybe you haven’t fully recovered yet?”

“Hmm.”

He had a point. Even if she found all the pieces of her soul and made it into a complete core, she couldn’t consider it a recovery.

Yeon-young wondered how to recover the core. It would take too long to find an emergency team and leave the core in their care. With Saeri no longer able to hold on, Ji Hua’s core was also in danger.

Now that Saeri’s strength was gone, it might collapse even faster than her.

She bit her lower lip tightly; she was overthinking this situation. She repeated the word “simple” to herself.

Then her eyes widened.

“Do you have any potions?”

“A potion?”

“The potion you use when your soul is damaged by that Snarl. It’s made from Sly’s powder.”

“…Oh.”

He let out a small groan as if realizing something, then nodded his head slightly, agreeing with Yeon-young. It was a good idea, he thought.

She fumbled with the core, lost in thought. She fumbled around in her pockets and realized she didn’t have any extra potions.

“But I don’t think there’s much of that left…! If we go to the lab now, do you think there’ll be any left?”

“Probably not, they’ve divided it up among the branches in preparation for the war.”

“Ha. Then this won’t work either.”

“…Yes, in theory.”

His expression was meaningful, unlike his negative answer, but Yeon-young didn’t see it. Her attention was focused on the unavailability, and her disappointment showed.

Her brow furrowed slightly, and she thought of other ways to get the core back.

Suddenly, he stopped her in front of him and began searching through his pockets. His fussing made her nervous. Ryu Won flashed her a shallow smile as he reached into his vest pocket.

She was mesmerized by his smile and couldn’t look away. Ryu Won slowly pulled out an object from his pocket.

“Oh, that!”

“That’s right, it’s the item Ms. Yeon-young is looking for, right?”

Looking at the sparkling liquid in the glass bottle,Yeon-young immediately realized what it was.

Holding the core in her hand, she lifted it slightly to see what was inside. Then Ryu Won raised one hand in the air.

She tilted her head back and stared at the potion. The bright light made her eyes squint.

“Did you have a spare? Why did you say no earlier?”

“Well, it’s not exactly a spare, I got it from the second branch.”

“…From Branch 2? When? Ah…. You mean when you went on a business trip?”

“Why not? I was with you the whole time.”

“Did you ask my permission and bring it with you?”

“Do I need permission to take one?”

“Isn’t that stealing?”

“Let’s call it borrowing.”

“No, I’m glad you have it, but why did you bring it?”

“Because I can’t reach you, and I thought I’d be prepared in case something happened to you.”

“Oh?”

Yeon-young repeated in disbelief, meaning that he had stolen the other branch’s potion because he assumed she was injured because he couldn’t reach her.

She wasn’t sure where to begin to re-educate him on his rotten ethical standards. She let out a small sigh and reached out her hand.

This was an emergency, and she had to use that potion. Yeon-young leaned in closer to him, lifting her magpie feet a little higher.

But she couldn’t reach the potion because of their size difference.

He toyed with her, dodging her touch this way and that. Then he casually grabbed her waist with one hand. Ryu Won pulled her toward him with a supple, sly grip.

Before she knew it, she was being held by him. She let out a ragged breath.

“Do you really want to play around in this situation?”

“Not under the circumstances. I can play much worse pranks here.”

Ryu Won’s hands casually dug into the small of her back, and she mewled in ticklish delight. He buried his face in her shoulder.

“I like a reward.”

“Can’t we do that reward later?”

“No. It would be a waste of time. Ms. Yeon-young, the more immediate the reward, the better.”

“What do you want as a reward?”

His eyes were filled with mischief. Ryu Won let out a muffled groan, the corners of her mouth drawn together.

“I don’t think I’ve given you the right answer yet.”

“What answer? Was there something I didn’t tell you?”

“That you love me.”

“What?”

“Say you love me with all your heart.”

He waved the potion out of Yeon-young’s view and smiled a winner’s smile. She brushed him off lightly and let out a single, deep breath. And she smiled back, warm as spring.

“You think I’m going to be embarrassed to say that?”

“No? You always seemed so shy…”

“I love you.”

“…….”

“I love you, Ryu Won.”

Yeon-young interrupted Ryu Won and told him what he wanted to hear. He froze at the words, the man who had been taking control of the situation with ease.

In the meantime, Yeon-young had intercepted the potion in his hand and slipped out of his arms.

Her face felt like it was on fire.

Trying to ignore the heat, she poured the liquid over Ji Hua’s core, which immediately responded.

The light grew stronger and stronger, and the gold on the core began to disappear little by little.

Yeon-young quickly set the core down in the center of the bed.

A little harder, the core returned to its pristine form. Sly’s powder had really worked.

A human breastbone began to appear above the core, and a human form formed around it.

Yeon-young couldn’t hide her excitement.

The transparent form regained its original color, revealing Ji Hua’s features. Ji Hua slowly opened her eyes.

Her dormant soul had awakened. Ji Hua turned her gaze toward them. After a moment of surprise, she smiled softly and said,

“It’s been a long time, Ophir.”
