Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 60
A reddish glow emanated from the bracelet like sparks.
The light gradually grew larger and covered her body.
With a loud siren, the figure of the Slys disappeared from view.
The emergency teleportation portal was activated. The center had established a link.
As she was sucked into the portal, she saw a clear sky.
The coordinates must have been unstable because it was an emergency portal, and Yeon-young fell out of the air and crashed to the ground.
The Center’s building came into view, and she squeezed her bracelet tightly.
“Yeon-young!”
“Kim Yeon-young!”
A familiar voice called out. The voice she knew would come looking for her at any moment.
She felt the wind rush through her body and soon she was in someone’s arms.
By now she could tell who it was just by smelling his scent.
“You made it back to the center.”
“I don’t know, I’m not sure if I’m safe looking like this.”
Ryu Won gently stroked Yeon-young’s now transparent arm. The skin was scarred from the contact with the snarl.
He frowned, the smile wiped off his face.
Nevertheless, Yeon-young relaxed. A feeling of security washed over her now.
“You don’t change that easily.”
Ryu Won’s eyes widened slightly when he touched her right wrist.
He seemed to sense something in her.
“What is this aura?”
“Have I been gone for a long time?”
“You’ve been missing in the forest for a day.”
Yeon-young leaned her head on Ryu Won’s arm, stunned.
She could barely move her hands and was already exhausted.
In her mind, she remembered the Slys she had left behind in the northwestern mountains. It bothered her that they had disappeared so abruptly without a final goodbye.
“I have to go to the chairman.”
At that moment, Jaeho approached her and pushed Ryu Won’s shoulder roughly.
The atmosphere immediately became as cold as a deserted snowfield.
Ryu Won stared down at Jaeho with menacing intensity, and Jaeho glared at Ryu Won as if to kill him.
It seemed that something had happened in Yeon-young’s absence.
The silence grew longer.
They hadn’t been on good terms before, but this had really reached a new low.
Yeon-young looked at Jaeho’s body.
He looked unharmed, unchanged from his rampage in the mountains to catch a snarl.
Jaeho turned his gaze to Yeon-young. He visibly flinched as his sea-blue eyes locked with hers.
“I’m glad you’re okay.”
Jaeho rolled his eyes at Yeon-young’s greeting.
He looked like he couldn’t contain his simmering anger.
She felt suspicious because there was no reason for him to be so angry with Yeon-young.
“You are so unintelligent. I could have gotten out of this mission without you.”
“Oh, really?”
“Don’t be an asshole.”
Boom!
Suddenly, a huge wall of water and an invisible gust of wind crashed through the air.
It happened so fast. Yeon-young’s mouth dropped open in disbelief.
It was like a taut rope being pulled from both sides, unable to go either way.
‘Was Jung Jaeho that capable?’
Jaeho’s abilities were impressive, but she didn’t think they were comparable to Ryu Won’s.
But now he was using them as much as Ryu Won.
Yeon-Young closed her eyes and concentrated.
The core emanating from Jaeho’s earlobes were slightly larger than usual.
Ryu Won’s grip on her arm tightened.
“She said she didn’t need your help and she managed to get out of the forest safely on her own, so shut up.”
Ryu Won taunted Jaeho with a cold smile.
It was nothing new.
He hadn’t run out to greet Jung Jaeho at all.
But Jaeho was stunned by Ryu Won’s words.
With a sour face, he quickly shoveled the wall of water that had been built up to the level of the first floor of the center and walked away.
It wasn’t like him.
“There’s something wrong with his reaction.”
“This is why I told you not to hang out with other spirits.”
“What?”
“How could a spirit not love Yeon-young?”
“You’re strange again.”
In the center, a few spirits poked their heads out of the windows to see if word of Yeon-young’s return had spread.
The crowd of onlookers grew, and she felt ashamed to be held by him in this position.
“Put me down, please.”
“I don’t want to.”
“Then let’s go to the chairman first.”
* * *
Ryu Won took Yeon-young to the chairman’s office in this position.
It was a small rebellion for not stopping at the emergency room first.
Saeri greeted her, leaning back in her chair.
“Glad you made it back safely. If you’d been any later, I’d have reincarnated everyone on the comms team.”
“What happened to the comms team?”
“There was a Snarl invasion.”
Saeri stared at Ryu Won with a murderous glare, then looked away.
Saeri’s face hardened for a moment as she realized that Yeon-young’s transparent skin was in the crack.
Yeon-young had given her the Sly’s Powder, a treasure she’d always treasured.
The Sly’s Powder sparkled with an unusually clear color, as if it had been ground from nothing but refined moonlight.
Saeri stared at Yeon-young with puzzled eyes.
“Did you use the Sly as a slave or something?”
“No… it’s not like that, I just happened to get so many.”
“They gave you so many of their own accord?”
“They gave them to me because I asked for them.”
It wasn’t a lie.
She had read the Sly’s memories and asked for help, and they had given it to her.
Saeri’s gaze went to her right wrist.
Yeon-young looked at the enlarged power core in her wrist.
“I’m glad I left you in charge, you’ve grown.”
“There was a Sly there…”
“Yes, that will be fixed soon enough.”
“I saw the Chairman there through his memories. Did you send me there on purpose?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Saeri looked beyond the center to the Iris Forest and immediately knew what Yeon-young was referring to.
If not for the sudden appearance of the Snarl, the mission would have been a win-win for Yeon-young.
A successful request, a falling reward, and an improved ability.
Saeri tapped her toe on the ground and smiled.
“You’ll find out soon enough.”
Saeri rose from her seat and took a step toward Yeon-young.
She touched her index finger to Yeon-young’s soft cheek.
“You’ve been through a lot. I hope you’re going to a good home now.”
“Home?”
Ryu Won repeated Saeri’s question as if he had never heard it before.
Suddenly she remembered the real reason why she’d accepted this job.
Five times the money for accepting this mission.
Ryu Won pulled Yeon-young closer into his arms and looked down at her.
He thought he could see the birthmark under her right eye glowing.
“You decided to leave the house.”
Yeon-young averted her eyes from his murderous stare.
Ryu Won pulled her deeper into his arms as if he didn’t want to let her go.
Despite his cold mood, Ryu Won drove Yeon-young to the emergency room.
The day flew by as she met Dae-Heon, talked to him and received treatment.
The next day, Yeon-young escaped from Ryu Won and went alone to the underground training center.
She was warned to be careful, but after her confrontation with the Snarl, she felt the need to practice.
She couldn’t rely on someone else’s help forever.
“Huh?”
Yeon-young stumbled back as soon as she opened the door to the training center.
The inside of the training center was filled with blue water.
Yeon-young quickly tried to close the door, but the rushing water swallowed her up.
She panicked as the water rushed up her nose, but luckily she was able to breathe underwater.
She looked around in amazement, taking in the mysteriously familiar interior.
A man stood in the center, staring at his hands, lost in thought.
It was a face she had never seen before.
He was about Ryu Won’s height, a bit thin, but with a round face.
What caught her attention was the man’s sad aura that radiated even when he was standing still.
If she were to anthropomorphize a male mermaid under the sea, she thought he would look like this.
There was no way that Yeon-young wouldn’t remember this face.
“Who is it?”
The man seemed to recognize Yeon-young’s fake popularity.
With a wave of his hand, the water that had filled the training center disappeared without a trace.
As her blurred vision cleared, she saw the man’s emerald hair.
Unimpressed, he slipped his hand inside his robe and approached Yeon-young.
The man suddenly reached out and gently touched the top of her head. It was a cold hand.
Then he smiled in satisfaction.
“You’re smaller than me now.”
“Who are you?”
The man didn’t answer, just pulled Yeon-young’s right wrist and wrapped his hands around the bracelet.
His grip was so strong that no matter how hard she swung her wrist, it wouldn’t budge.
She looked at him again.
Through the white robe, she could see the man’s name on his temple card.
“Jung Jaeho?”
The name Jung Jaeho was written in three characters.
