Yeon-young took a step backward, and Woojin’s memory faded again.

The gentle sound of running water filled her ears. Woojin was back in her memory again.

Her vision blurred with heat, realizing that she had been involved with Ryu Won in her previous life.

The urge to get out of there and talk to Ryu Won was strong.

She stood on the bank of the memory stream and concentrated on getting out.

A single memory glowed intensely in the water.

“What?”

Forgetting that she needed to get out of the water, Yeon-young approached the memory.

She lifted it up with her hand, and a small image appeared in her mind.

Wondering if it was another memory of Ryu Won, Yeon-young ran her finger over it.

Then a new memory of Woojin played.

Woojin was driving a car somewhere. After concentrating on the road for a while, he arrived at a general hospital.

He bought a basket of fruit and headed to a patient room. When he opened the door to the room, he was greeted by a woman with a cast on her right leg.

Woojin’s face lit up.

“Oh, crazy. Why are you showing me that woman again?”

The woman was someone Yeon-young knew well.

The cute girl with long, wavy light brown hair was Woojin’s crush.

She’d seen him with her several times before, so she knew who she was.

Yeon-young swallowed hard and swept her bangs away, feeling dirty.

“Soo-min.”

“Oppa!”

“How are you feeling?”

“The surgery went well and I’m fine. You don’t have to come.”

“How can I not come when my girlfriend is injured?”

Woojin’s heart skipped a beat as soon as Soo-min’s piercing blue eyes met his.

He stared at her with love in his eyes. It was a far cry from the way he looked at his phone in front of Yeon-young.

Without realizing it, Yeon-young searched Woojin’s eyes and throat. There was no sign of Ryu Won in Woojin, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

This was only Woojin’s emotion. He loved her with all his heart.

WooJin carefully set the fruit basket down on the bed and hugged her.

Yeon-young turned around, one corner of her mouth tilted up.

She must have seen her on the small screen, but she couldn’t figure out why it was showing her this.

She hadn’t come into the memory to see them together.

“Ha, let’s get out of here.”

Then the scene changed. Yeon-young looked around, dumbfounded by the sudden change in scene.

Woojin walked out of the woman’s hospital room and down a dark hallway. The hallway was lined with hospital room doors on both sides.

He scanned the names of the hospital rooms with an impassive look on his face and stopped abruptly.

“Yeon-young Kim?”

The name he thought would never come out of his mouth again.

Yeon-young stiffened, watching his every move.

Woojin looked more closely at the name. Among the many names, there was indeed the name Kim Yeon-young.

He tilted his head, muttering the word ‘a’ in disbelief.

The door to the hospital room was slightly ajar.

He paused in front of it and bent his head slightly to look inside.

Yeon-young leaned forward a little further to check the crack.

“Hmph.”

There, unconscious and asleep, was Yeon-young herself.

This is a memory she doesn’t have.

She covered her mouth with one hand and froze in place. She was so startled that her legs went limp.

The space in Woojin’s memory shattered into fragments.

One by one, the four fields came into Yeon-young’s vision.

Woojin grabbed Yeon-young’s hand and looked at her with confusion in his eyes.

“Are you okay, Yeon-young? Yeon-young.”

“Mr. Woojin, by any chance, how long have you been in Branch 4?”

“I…, less than a week, Ms. Yeon-young?”

She could hear Woojin’s voice clearly calling out to her, but she couldn’t answer.

If he hadn’t been here for less than a week, was Yeon-young still in the hospital room?

As his voice grew louder, the spirits scanning the pillars turned their gazes toward her.

Ryu Won’s face darkened, and he stopped what he was doing and walked over to her.

A familiar, warm hand touched her shoulder, and she drew in the breath she’d been holding.

“Yeon-young, what’s wrong? Are you sick?”

“Mr. Ryu Won.”

“Yes. Slowly. If you’re tired, you don’t have to tell me.”

He patted Yeon-young on the back and pulled her into his arms.

At the sight of him, Jaeho stopped what he was doing and moved closer, his brows narrowing.

Jaeho stared at Woojin with piercing blue eyes.

“What happened? Is it you?”

“What? I didn’t do anything…”

“Your very existence must be the problem. Why are you even around her?”

Woojin shrugged his shoulders in frustration, but it didn’t seem to reach Jaeho’s ears.

Jaeho was ready to pull out the capsule at any moment and trap Woojin’s soul forever.

As the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, Laurendia stepped in to defuse the situation.

Thanks to her, Woojin was able to escape Jaeho’s gaze.

As she gathered her thoughts in Ryu Won’s arms, Yeon-young slowly raised her head and stared into his eyes, which were as clear as dew.

Chewing on her lower lip, she opened her mouth.

“I think I should go to the underworld.”

“What do you mean?”

“There’s something I need to check out.”

“It’s not a good time, because of the snarl. Maybe later…”

“I don’t think I’m dead.”

“What?”

“I think I’m still alive.”

The spirits who were listening to Yeon-young’s words had a puzzled look on their faces. They didn’t seem to understand what she was saying.

She pulled herself completely out of Ryu Won’s arms and stood up.

Laurendia grabbed the hem of her coat and stopped her in her tracks. Laurendia looked up at her with warm, straight eyes.

She seemed to believe what she was saying.

“Ms. Yeon-young, why did you suddenly think of that?”

“I saw Mr. Woojin’s memories, and I was alive in them.”

“Woojin has only been here for a short time, so…, it’s understandable that he would have such thoughts.”

“It’s hard to imagine. You’re not dead, yet you flowed into this place.”

Ryu Won replied rather coldly. It was true.

This was a world of spirits, and someone who was still alive would never enter.

If that was the case, then Saeri should have answered the question about Yeon-young.

The more she thought about it, the more complicated the situation became.

Still, she had a hunch. That her body might still be in the hospital room.

“I have to go, I have to check.”

“There’s no point in going.”

Ryu Won kept blocking her path.

His white eyes were like a noose, locking onto hers. His gaze tightened her breath.

She could see the fear behind that intense gaze. The corners of his eyes trembled intermittently.

He didn’t seem to want to believe she was alive.

“What makes you so sure? Didn’t you know?”

“I don’t know, but I could be mistaken, because if I were alive, I wouldn’t be here.”

“Why did you come to see me?”

“…….”

“Why did you get into Mr. Woojin’s body and make me fall in love with you?”

“Yeon-young.”

“Is this all a lie, or did I see you wrong?”

“That’s…”

“Don’t stop me.”

Yeon-young grabbed Ryu Won’s hands and squeezed them, then slowly lowered them.

Then she slowly pushed his body backwards. Ryu Won was pushed back helplessly.

He muttered in a small voice.

“Come with me.”

“The world is in danger because of the Snarl. What if we lose a powerhouse?”

“What’s the point of the world?”

“I’ll just check it out and come back. Wait. You know what Ryu Won always says, be careful.”

Yeon-young shook her head resolutely and smiled faintly. Ryu Won’s eyes widened slightly at the sight.

Then Laurendia stepped in between them, taking Yeon-young’s hand in hers.

“I’m the expert in this field, so I’ll go with you.”

“What?”

“I told you, a guide. I’m not new to this, so I’ll be helpful. Take me with you.”

Seeing how confident Laurendia was, Yeon-young nodded.

With her intentions confirmed, Laurendia immediately opened a teleport to the Fourth District Center.

Yeon-Young hesitated in front of the teleport for a moment.

She stepped out firmly, but Ryu Won’s desperation in his eyes stopped her.

But then she leapt into the teleport without looking back.

She had to face the truth first.
