Possessor #2 Just Wants to Fangirl Chapter 100
The fortune-teller session with Gyeon Junhwi took place in the Broadcasting Club’s editing room. It’s natural for me to come here since I’m a Broadcasting Club member, but our Junhwi also said he’d come.
The official reason is video editing.
We need to release a follow-up to the investigation footage, and the class representative who was at the scene would help judge ‘security disclosure.’
“Ooooh! Our hero!!!”
The Broadcasting Club president—no lie—actually rolled out a red carpet to greet Gyeon Junhwi.
I heard the two worked together while I was asleep. That video that made me famous… Junhwi wrote the scenario for that video.
Junhwi looked very tired, like he hasn’t been sleeping much lately. Still, he’s flashing the president a friendly smile.
“It’s been a while, President.”
“Haha, I told you to just call me hyung casually.”
“I’ll call you that in private.”
There’s a reason the president welcomes Junhwi so much. In this world too, ads play when you watch videos.
This video was viewed at least 20 times by all academy enrolled students and graduates. The ad revenue that came in was enormous.
Not only that, they can sell it to external media for more profit. Thanks to selling the video to every media outlet in <On the Brink of Destruction>, they made unimaginable profits here too.
You know that saying, ‘There are people who haven’t watched it, but no one who’s only watched it once’?
But for this video, there were absolutely zero ‘people who haven’t watched it.’ Since it’s the incident’s only video footage, this is what appeared on the news too.
The Broadcasting Club just broke record view counts and raked in record capital.
With that capital, they procured a red carpet and even prepared a Yeon Sora exclusive editing room. They even equipped the latest Drone Eye editor, so really, if I just think about it, corrections happen automatically and everything.
Additionally, 2% of sales came to me, Gyeon Junhwi, and the president who have stakes in the video. I thought the ratio seemed too stingy, but that alone produced hundreds of millions in income, so I just shut my mouth.
I could file a claim if I wanted. But the basic period for lawsuits is apparently 5 years. Since this world is fated to end within 3 years, I decided not to be greedy and just take what’s given.
Unfortunately, ‘external sales’ which comprise the biggest portion of profits are one-time revenue. Ad revenue from clicks will also plummet next month.
‘Well, it wasn’t work done to make money anyway.’
I just filmed it to monitor villains, but Junhwi turned it into a hundred-million income source.
As expected, when you’re next to Junhwi, bean powder crumbs fall. Though I don’t know if this can be called bean powder crumbs.
The Broadcasting Club president is laughing heartily while pounding my shoulder.
“Haha! Then work without pressure?”
“Really anything, I can make whatever I want?”
“Of course, ace! I’ve said it many times, but this video’s selling point is ‘Yeon Sora edited it herself’! Since we announced in advance that the skill level is dismal, it’s better to keep expectations low on that front. Whatever comes out, people will click at least once anyway, so don’t worry at all!”
The more I see this president, the more I like him.
Bold!
“Even better if it’s really insane! Just do whatever your heart desires! We’ll put up a warning at the beginning anyway! Then I’m counting on you, alright?”
The president disappeared, and Gyeon Junhwi and I stepped on the red carpet and moved to Sora’s personal editing room.
From now on, possessor versus possessor!
No, possessor versus fortune-teller future discussion time!
* * *
The Yeon Sora exclusive editing room with capital invested was magnificent. Because it was a space that perfectly blocked outside gazes and noise!
It was so perfect I wanted to use it as a fortune-telling location for Yeom Juwan and Ki Hyeonmin too, but the Broadcasting Club president firmly forbade outsider entry for security reasons.
By the chairwoman’s orders, apparently only Junhwi and I can enter here.
“Take this.”
Gyeon Junhwi used the ‘Promise Orb’ even in a place with perfect security. Not leaving even a one-in-a-million possibility—this meticulousness! As expected of my baby!
The session started with simple fact-checking.
“You noticed from the moment the twins first appeared, right?”
“Yeah.”
“You knew about spirit art in advance too?”
“Yeah.”
All the questions were structured as ‘yes/no’ questions, so I could move forward quickly without lengthy explanations.
Since Gyeon Junhwi knew about the fortune-teller session from the start, I don’t need to persuade him.
After conducting simple updates for a few minutes like that, we finally began discussing new content.
“Park Rahee?”
“Actually, in my dream there were 9 masked people putting Park Rahee on an altar. But Rahee is so obedient…”
I took this opportunity to reveal that I know about the 9 masterminds. According to the setting, I know everything through dreams, so this was the process of roughly visualizing and expressing the mastermind information I know.
Now I need to move to the really important part…
“Gra…”
…I paused before mentioning grasshopper.
Because I remembered what the crazy hacker unnie said.
‘They’re obviously tracking this too, right?’
She said materials about the 9 demons also had some kind of advanced tracking magic. Then naturally, wouldn’t they have the same magic on ‘grasshopper’?
‘That grasshopper isn’t an ordinary grasshopper!’
I thought it was just one of many experiments, but contrary to my initial expectation, it was a magnificent grasshopper. I’m even in a situation believing this grasshopper played a core role in destruction.
Not only that…
‘That sensation I felt…’
The moment I mentioned ‘grasshopper’ while conducting the session with Yeom Juwan, mana was detected. But when I had grasshopper conversations with Ha Seonwoo before, that wasn’t there.
Meaning it’s tracking magic set recently.
From the mastermind’s perspective, they went through the trouble of using Authority to trigger an Outbreak and summon grasshoppers, but the operation still failed.
Then naturally, wouldn’t they track the grasshopper keyword?
I’d do that too.
“Gra… what comes after?”
Gyeon Junhwi is looking at me with a dazzling smile.
I raised my hand in the air and made a ‘T’ sign to declare timeout briefly.
“I’m going to talk nonsense for a bit from now, can you wait a moment?”
“Yeah.”
“Park Rahee… bugs… fluorescent… luminous… flies… orphanage…”
Clunk!
The orphanage keyword was caught.
As expected, it was sensitive material.
From now on is random word parade time.
“Actually, I thought orphanage was childcare place. You know—taking care of kids, raising them, that kind of thing.”
“It’s more ‘raising’ than ‘taking care.’”
“Ah, was it? But recently I asked my parents if we should put my siblings in an orphanage and they freaked out. So I learned…” (+) [1]
I roughly filled time with this and that, then lowered my hand to release timeout after the slime disappeared.
How to convey grasshopper…
The answer could be found surprisingly quickly.
“You absolutely can’t mention the name of what I’m about to show you, okay?”
After warning like that, I pulled out the grasshopper corpse from inventory.
Park Rahee’s last grasshopper. I have it.
I already gave one to Ha Seonwoo, so I decided to keep this one.
“This is the bug Rahee summoned.”
“The one you caught then?”
“Yeah, did you see it glowing?”
“No.”
As expected, only I can see the grasshopper’s freak-out flash.
I want to explain this principle too… but then I’d have to reveal my trait, so I just had to cover it with ‘I don’t know either, but only my eyes can see it.’
I tried checking the mana orb too, but as expected Junhwi says he can’t detect mana.
After going through various confirmation procedures, just as I was about to discuss seriously, Gyeon Junhwi was pressing his temples firmly.
“Let’s just… start over from day one. From the awakening test day sequentially.”
Seems I spoke a bit incoherently.
Actually, I didn’t not talk—I couldn’t talk.
Our Junhwi has such strong new person distrust syndrome that honestly, there was nothing good about opening up.
“If I tell you, will you believe me?”
“Of course.”
“Then from the awakening test day… I saw a goblin and its eyes were yellow… the moment I saw this, I thought ‘Ah! I saw this in a dream!’ and became self-aware…”
I smoothly spilled everything from my first day of possession. It was quite convenient since I could replace all my prior knowledge with ‘dreams.’
“…So I told Ha Seonwoo about ‘that thing’ and he said no matter how you look at it, it seems like our team member!”
“Wait, what?”
Our Junhwi is very surprised, huh?
Sorry, I didn’t know it was information I shouldn’t say.
Ha Seonwoo is also my bias, so I just…
“Haa… so that’s how it was.”
Still, our Junhwi has a strangely relieved face.
Though I don’t know for sure, seems like he had thoughts like ‘strangely it feels like we’re lacking information’ in his deal with Ha Seonwoo.
Since there’s still a lot to say, I just continued without apologizing.
“…But Ha Seonwoo said ‘that’ is dangerous so keep distance. But how could I? So I’m entering the same club as suspects and hanging around, and what do you know, at a sleepover with Park Rahee, that thing appears right there?”
“Ah, no no wait!”
Yeah, sorry.
I didn’t know it was such a dangerous grasshopper.
Still, Rahee was surprisingly careless, so it wasn’t that dangerous.
Let’s move forward again.
“…One thing led to another and it appeared at the movie theater too. The chimera group attack was because of ‘that thing.’ So I handed ‘that thing’ to Ha Seonwoo and requested a background investigation…”
“Haa…”
Sorry, it was all because of me.
But listen…
“Ha Seonwoo absolutely won’t betray us.”
“How can you be certain of that?”
“Because I saw.”
It’s not a lie.
Gyeon Junhwi is suspicious because he hasn’t experienced Ha Seonwoo yet.
But,
‘I saw everything!’
How capable Ha Seonwoo is, how he died, what he thought at the end, what devices he prepared posthumously.
And… what Gyeon Junhwi thought knowing that and what regrets he had too.
“It’s fine, Ha Seonwoo does good work too.”
In this life, let’s join hands from the start, quickly eliminate the mastermind, and enjoy post-retirement life!
My baby, you went after doing nothing but work.
“…So recently Ha Seonwoo talked about Antithesis, then about ‘that place’ where Rahee was, you know, the place I almost sent my siblings. He said he’s monitoring there? But when I searched, there’s no article. Probably secretly monitoring and casting illusion magic on site.”
This finishes the Park Rahee, grasshopper, Ha Seonwoo part!
Phew… it took quite a while because there was surprisingly a lot to say.
Still, it feels quite refreshing.
But Gyeon Junhwi looks troubled.
“So… who else have you approached this way?”
“Um…”
My gaze naturally went to the clock.
It’s already quite late.
Gyeon Junhwi who noticed my gaze gave an exhausted hollow laugh.
“This video seems like it’ll take a while.”
“Yeah.”
“Since it won’t finish in a day or two, let’s schedule time regularly.”
“I’ll organize and give you documents as much as possible.”
“…”
Junhwi thought for a moment, then pulled something from inventory. A notebook with unique patterns, but I know this notebook’s identity!
“This, are you really giving this to me?”
“Huh? Oh, from now on write all your dreams here. There might be things you’re missing and overlooking among the dreams you have. Think of it as a dream journal.”
“Yeah, thanks.”
The first gift I received from our Junhwi!
And it’s… an exchange diary!
The amazing fact that content written in this notebook gets delivered to Junhwi, and when Junhwi gives answers, I can read them too!
In the original, he gave this to someone else, but this time it rolled into my possession.
As expected, going with the fortune-teller setting was the right choice!
Feeling honored, I’m stroking the notebook’s leather cover when Junhwi opened his mouth again.
“But there’s one mystery that still hasn’t been resolved. Can I ask?”
“Of course!”
Both corners of Junhwi’s mouth curved peculiarly.
A shape where the corners are hollowed concavely.
Thanks to my nano observation, I know the meaning of that smile. It’s the smile when setting bug traps for the twins.
He’s digging some kind of trap for me too, trying to conduct final identity verification.
Junhwi’s amazingly plump, pretty lips that provoke the question ‘You really don’t use tint?’ moved.
“Your dream story… why did you confide in me first?”
- 1. TLN: This is lost in translations. Basically, the Korean word for “orphanage” that is being used here is: 보육원. And Sora here, mistakenly thought it’s basically a daycare, childcare place. Because 보 (保) sounds like protect, and 육 (育) sounds like raise/nurture. So, she assumed the “orphanage (보육원)” meant something like “a place that protects and raises kids” (i.e. daycare), instead of “a place for children without parents.”
