Calm down, there’s no evidence for that, is there? An extreme Omega? That’s a being you’d be lucky to see once in your lifetime.

Grayson is lucky enough to know two extreme Omegas. One is Koi, who gave birth to him, and the other is Angel, who gave birth to his friend, Keith Pittman. However, he literally only “knows of their existence” and they are entities who have absolutely no relevance to his life.

But so suddenly? Does this make any sense?

Continual suspicions kept raising their heads, but his emotions betrayed his reason. His heart, beating this violently, cannot be a lie. Until now, he had lived by suppressing his instincts with reason. The only exception was when he got the “feeling” that he had found his destiny.

Falling into the same illusion every time and ending up in regret, he was swayed this time, just like before. The person Grayson had been searching for so desperately might just be him.

“Fire.”

Amidst the absurd belief, the fortune-teller’s words surfaced. What he had laughed off as nonsense now felt like the only light illuminating his path forward. Now, it was no longer a guess but a certainty. That man is the real one. The way to confirm it is simple. He just needs to meet him again.

How?

Grayson moved his feet, which had briefly stopped, and started pacing again.

Should I set my house on fire? What if I set this hospital on fire? Among the firefighters who are dispatched, how do I find him? Could he be off-duty?

Unfortunately, his blurry memory gave him no clues. He tried to recall the person he had briefly looked up at in the final moment. But because he was wearing a helmet and had approached from behind, he didn’t know what he looked like. He seemed to have heard his voice fleetingly, but he couldn’t recall what he said, nor could he remember the nuance of the voice now. He didn’t even know if it was a woman or a man. No, it must be a woman. Because she said her chest was big.

But other than that, there were no clues. The voice was also close to a whisper, so even if he heard it again, it would be difficult to notice.

Then should I keep setting fires until I find out who it is? That’s too inefficient. Isn’t there a more effective way?

…That’s it.

Before long, he came up with a brilliant idea. It was just a few hours later that Grayson headed East to meet his father, Ashley Miller.

∞ ∞ ∞

The most likely next president. A former representative of the #1 law firm in North America, a former lawyer, and currently a Senator. A man who was the captain of his ice hockey team in high school and was a VIP. An extreme Alpha with a height over two meters and platinum-blonde hair, possessing a breathtakingly gorgeous appearance.

That was Ashley Miller.

Having six children, he looked at his second son standing across his desk with his usual expressionless face. Ashley, who didn’t show any particular change in expression even after hearing Grayson’s words, opened his mouth slowly after a silence.

“What did you say just now?”

His low voice was the same as ever, but asking him to repeat what he had just heard was uncharacteristic behavior for him. Grayson looked at his father with a bright smile.

“I want to become a firefighter. But since it’s not the recruitment period right now, I want to enter through a special appointment. So, I was hoping you could help me out a bit.”

He repeated what he had said earlier with a slight explanation added. Ashley looked at him without any expression, then moved his lips.

“What did you say just now?”

“I want to become a firefighter, Father. Since it’s not the recruitment period right now, I would appreciate it if you could use your influence so I can enter through a special appointment.”

Even though he should have felt annoyed at repeating the same thing for the third time, Grayson still hadn’t lost his smile. Ashley watched the fabricated smile of his son, which he had seen so often, with a steady gaze. After another silence passed, Ashley Miller finally seemed to accept reality and sank his body deep into the back of his chair.

“The motive?”

“Because helping people is a noble act.”

It was an answer that sounded like it had been pulled straight from a textbook, but of course, it was not the answer Ashley wanted at all. That wasn’t a statement his son would typically utter. Grayson added without panicking, as if he had already anticipated Ashley’s cold reaction.

“It’s because my fated lover is at a fire station. I want to go and confirm it.”

“Ahhh….”

Only then did Ashley narrow his eyes and let out a long exclamation. It was an indifferent reaction as if to say, Of course, but Grayson continued without a care.

“Of course, there is every possibility that I am wrong again this time. But you never know unless you try, right? You said I could do whatever I wanted, as long as it wasn’t a crime. Helping others is not a crime.”

Ashley didn’t react to his smooth, well-prepared explanation. Ashley, who had been watching his son become unusually passionate whenever the word “destiny” was placed before him, twisted the corners of his mouth and asked:

“You know how many fire stations there are in the country, don’t you?”

Grayson hesitated for a moment but immediately regained his smile and answered.

“Of course, I’ve checked.”

“With that fortune-teller, I assume.”

“With tarot cards.”

Even knowing his Papa was being sarcastic, Grayson skillfully brushed off the remark. The reason he didn’t bother explaining, “There was a fire where a pheromone party was held, and among the firefighters who came to put it out, there is an extreme Omega who is my destiny. I want to become a firefighter to find him,” was because he had a firm belief that that side would invite even more ridicule. To Ashley Miller, the absurd story of “I had my fortune told, and that’s what it said” would likely go over better. The latter could be brushed off as him talking nonsense as usual, but the former would invite suspicion that he had finally lost his mind due to pheromones. Grayson thought this as he waited for Ashley’s response.

Ashley stared intently at the smooth face of his son, who particularly resembled his own father, Dominique. Suppressing the disgust that rose up instinctively, he tried hard to find the image of his own partner in him, but unfortunately, it was a wasted effort. Ashley, who had repeated the same failure every time, accepted reality submissively this time as well.

“It’s a good thing to be motivated by something.”

Grayson’s eyes twinkled at his indifferent tone, and at the same time, his ears moved briefly. Only then did Ashley’s heart soften, if only slightly. Ashley continued, keeping his gaze fixed on Grayson’s ears, which shared the same habits as his only Omega.

“Fine, I’ll pull some strings. But there’s a condition.”

“Yes, anything.”

Grayson answered promptly without even listening. Ashley thought that this blind attitude of his always created bad situations, but he had no intention of warning him. Because failure also provides important realizations in life.

“You must go for at least one year—do not quit.”

Grayson hesitated and stiffened again. The reason the silence grew longer than before was obvious. It was clearly because he would want to quit immediately if he failed again this time. He had to set out to find his next partner as soon as possible.

No way.

Ashley looked at his son, who was delaying his answer and agonizing over it, and added one more thing.

“Jackson filed a complaint with me. He said you messed up his precious twins.”

“It was self-defense. They tried to rape me.”

Grayson hesitated at the name he had forgotten, but he defended himself with a smile. Ashley’s eyes narrowed, and he spat out with a more cynical tone than usual.

“That’s because you provoked them by spraying your pheromones first.”

Grayson tried to refute, but Ashley continued before he could.

“I’m telling you to take responsibility for that by providing a public service. Your pathetic quest for destiny is your own business to deal with, but you must take responsibility for what you’ve done. Did you come to me begging to pull strings for you without even the resolve for that much?”

He deserved to hear that. His words were so spot-on that there was no room for excuses. Grayson hesitated to answer due to the ominous premonition that he might fail again this time. Hadn’t he repeated countless mistakes until now, relying only on premonitions? Who could guarantee that this time would be different?

But what if it’s real this time?
