Waiting For Your Reincarnation Chapter 89
The next day, Yeon-young heads to the stable room where Saeri is hospitalized.
She’s still unconscious. As Diane checked on her, she looked at her medical records and made a face of disbelief.
Yeon-young remembered the conversation she had with Diane when she admitted Saeri.
“Wow, what is this?”
“What’s wrong? Is something wrong?”
“I don’t know.”
“What?”
“We’ve run it through every machine in the center, but we can’t measure it. Why?”
Diane looked like a scientist who had made an interesting discovery. Yeon-young thought about Saeri’s memories.
It must have something to do with receiving the fragment of Ji Hua’s soul.
Yeon-young let out a shallow breath and opened the door to the hospital room. Warm light filtered through the window, illuminating Saeri’s pale face.
She approached with quiet steps and sat down in the chair beside the bed.
Saeri’s eyelashes fluttered and she opened her eyes.
“Chairman!”
“So this is what it feels like to be unconscious.”
“Are you okay?”
“The earth’s energy has gotten worse.”
Yeon-young sat up and leaned in close to her face.
Saeri was muttering to herself, but then her eyes filled with Yeon-young’s.
Saeri clutched her chest and slowly pushed herself to her feet. She leaned against the head of the bed, unable to hide her exhaustion.
“I’m sorry, I can’t drink tea.”
“What do you mean, you fell down, we can have it another time.”
“You’re not coming back?”
The question was as sharp as an arrowhead piercing the center of a target.
Saeri’s eyes widened slightly, tilting her head and staring intently at Yeon-young.
Yeon-young couldn’t read her, but Saeri’s gaze had already seen through her.
“Yeon-young, go back while you still can.”
“What?”
“Your body is still in good shape, so your spirit will be able to return.”
“…….”
“You are the most beautiful, prettiest soul I have ever seen.”
“Me?”
“That’s why I can’t stand to look at you.”
Saeri reached out and gently touched Yeon-young’s cheek. Yeon-young was speechless at the tepid warmth.
She hadn’t completely ruled out the option of going back. She was at a crossroads.
Still, the thought of returning to her original body made her steps heavier.
What is it to be alive, and why does Yeon-young feel alive in a world of spirits where only the dead gather?
“A little…, I’ll think about it more.”
“You should go to the northwest mountain.”
“The northwest mountain?”
“Check the condition of the Sly’s there, report back. Be ready to put it back where it belongs.”
“By when?”
“By today.”
“What? How do we find the Slys? The map was cut off in the middle last time.”
“You’ll find out when you get there. Go.”
Yeon-young’s eyes widened in time, but she didn’t repeat Saeri’s words.
Saeri settled back down on the bed and closed her eyes as she lay down. It meant she wasn’t going to continue the conversation.
The question about Ji Hua rolled around in her mouth, but she didn’t want to ask the old question with someone who had just woken up.
Yeon-young swallowed hard, turned around, and walked out of the hospital room.
It wasn’t too late to ask after her trip to the northwest mountains.
After stopping by the office to gather what she needed, she used her bracelet to open the teleport.
“Hey! Yeon-young Kim.”
Jaeho’s voice echoed down the center’s hallway, calling out to her.
The tips of her ears reddened, Yeon-young turned her head in the direction of the sound.
There stood Jaeho, one eye narrowed.
Spotting Yeon-young, he lunged at her with a ferocious momentum, grabbing her by both shoulders.
Yeon-young narrowed her eyes at the pain that shot up her shoulders.
“Are you going?”
“Uh, I’m just about to leave.”
“You still have a day. Why are you making this decision so quickly?”
“They told me to write a report by today.”
“Report? You’re going out of town?”
“Uh, I have to check out the northwest mountain Slys and post a report.”
“You’re going there in this situation?”
“I have to go, it’s work.”
With a slight twist of both shoulders, Yeon-young slipped out of Jaeho’s grasp.
Her firm answer gave Jaeho pause for thought.
In the meantime, Yeon-young turned on her teleportation again to leave the center.
But Jaeho stepped in front of her, blocking her path.
A mischievous grin appeared on his face. “Come on,” Jaeho said, pulling Yeon-young toward him.
Unwillingly, Yeon-young was hugged by him.
Yeon-young fidgeted, wondering if someone would walk down the hall and witness this.
As she pushed him away with her hands, Jaeho snuggled closer.
His cool breath tickled the nape of her neck. Goosebumps rose.
“Come on, man. Are you crazy?”
“Come with me.”
“Why would I do that? You’re going to get me into trouble again.”
Yeon-young thought back to when she and Jaeho had gone to the northwest mountains. She still shuddered at the thought of walking around all day collecting tiny snarls.
Despite his blunt answer, Jaeho still wore a relaxed smile.
It was clear he was enjoying the situation.
“I’m good to keep doing this.”
“You’re crazy.”
“You are. You shouldn’t have let me see you.”
“Ha.”
Letting out a heavy sigh, Yeon-young rubbed her forehead with her index finger.
Ryu Won’s stubbornness was stubborn, but Jung Jaeho’s curiosity was not something that could be easily defeated.
She gently took his hand in hers. At her touch, his eyes widened in confusion.
Shrugging her shoulders, Yeon-young let Jaeho’s hand slide down. This time, he obediently pulled his hand away.
“I’ll throw you in the snarl this time if you try anything stupid.”
With that, Yeon-young opened the teleport and jumped in first.
Jaeho, still replaying her words in his head, followed, his eyes clear as day.
“Huh.”
The northwestern mountains were still grim and dark.
Yeon-young checked the coordinates on her bracelet as she climbed the mountain path.
The only thing that had changed was that Jeong Jaeho, who was following her, was really quiet, and the communication with the center was working well.
Whereas before she had only seen the immediate obstacle in front of her, now the mountains to the northwest seemed to welcome her.
She tilted her head and walked straight ahead.
It bothered her that Jaeho was following her so obediently today.
“Hey, Yeon-young.”
“What?”
“You said you’re alive. Did you decide to come here and not go back?”
“I don’t know.”
At her vague answer, Jaeho quickened his pace and blocked Yeon-young’s path, causing her to stop in her tracks.
Jaeho was silent, his mouth tightly closed. Yeon-young stood at a distance, her gaze fixed on those clear eyes.
Yeon-young was still thinking about it.
It shouldn’t be hard to live a life as Kim Yeon-young in Korea. She had always been that way.
‘But now that I’ve remembered some of my past, I wonder if I can choose to forget it all.’
Now she knows. There is a world where the souls of the dead gather.
That there is a soul who has been waiting for her for hundreds, maybe thousands of years.
The image of Ryu Won holding her for the first and last time flashed through her mind. At the same time, fragments of the past from his memories flashed through her mind like a flashlight.
She felt like she hadn’t even discovered half of his secret yet.
Could she ever go back and cover it all up?
Jaeho’s eyes slowly focused as if he had finished thinking, and until then, Yeon-young hadn’t said anything.
With a trembling voice, he said what he wanted to say.
“Don’t go.”
The words were so unexpected that Yeon-young felt her heart leap into her throat.
Seeing her reaction, Jaeho took a step closer, closing the distance between them.
Suspicious of his behavior, Yeon-young also took a step back, maintaining a certain distance.
But it was to no avail as her back was soon slammed against a tree.
Jaeho stretched out his arms and trapped Yeon-young against the tree. His eyes were like a deep lake and his breath caught in his throat.
“What?”
“Don’t go back.”
“I’m thinking about it.”
“Decide here. Don’t go. If you put me in this position, you’re responsible.”
“What? I didn’t do anything.”
“You can’t just walk away like this.”
“No, I’m not.”
Jaeho’s words blurred her vision.
Jaeho grabbed both of Yeon-young’s hands and brought them up to his cheek..
He turned his head, closed his eyes, and breathed in and out.
She flinched as his cool breath leaked between her fingers.
Yeon-young squeezed her hands together in embarrassment, and Jaeho’s eyes flashed open and locked with hers.
“You shouldn’t have reached out to me if you knew you were going to disappear before my eyes like this.”
