Their gazes tangled and seemed to break apart. Jaeho’s cold voice echoed in her ear.

Jaeho buried his face in Yeon-young’s hand, feeling her warmth.

What did she have to do with him to make him react this way now?

His gaze was both fierce and lonely.

“Your choices will determine the direction of this world.”

At that moment, a black aura hovered over the core in Jaeho’s right earlobe.

And she doesn’t know why it pops out and wraps around both men’s cores whenever it feels like it.

Yeon-young fixed her gaze on his core, trying to hide her agitation.

As the silence lengthened, the shadow of the core deepened, and Jaeho’s hands grew stronger.

Yeon-young reached out one hand urgently and grabbed his earlobe. She could feel Jaeho’s body visibly stiffen.

Still, he didn’t push away.

“What the hell. What is it? What’s more…”

“I want you to think of it. Focus on this.”

He heard Yeon-young’s small murmur and replied in a languid tone. His ferocity seemed to have waned.

He gestured to his earlobe with his hand, as if he wanted her to read the memory one more time.

After a moment’s hesitation, Yeon-young channeled her power into Jaeho’s body.

He smiled, the corners of his mouth tugging up smoothly at the sensation.

Before Yeon-young’s eyes was the night sky, the space in Jaeho’s memory. She quickly scanned through the memories, her eyes determined.

With each passing image, Yeon-young checked to see if she was there or not.

‘I have to find me. I have to find myself first, even if it’s just a clue…’

Then she saw a bright flash of memory in the distance. It was definitely her.

She reached out and grabbed the memory.

The night sky faded away, and the lush green fields of Tanato drew her gaze.

She stood in the field, closed her eyes, and savored the warm breeze.

The sound of grass crunching against grass as Slys walked by was soothing.

Then she opened her eyes, as if she’d sensed something.

“A.”

She tilted her head to where the past Yeon-young was and said, “A”.

A, that was the name Jung Jaeho had been given in the past.

Yeon-young looked around for Jaeho, but couldn’t find him. Perhaps that was why she was now possessing Jaeho’s body and seeing his memories.

His soft, loving eyes were fixed on this place. She felt a piercing sensation that the Yeon-young of the past had recognized her in the present.

The hem of her white, sleeveless dress swished as she walked toward him.

The past Yeon-young stretched out her hand toward her and whispered.

“I’m sorry, I said I’d name you… I want it to be meaningful, so I’m taking my time.”

“…….”

“I recently met a spirit with a very strange name, and I think it would fit you well.”

“…….”

“A new heart. A fresh start. What do you think?”

The Yeon-young of the past skillfully kept the conversation going even when no answer came back.

She smiled, like a little bird in the woods announcing the morning.

It was strange that her past self was so talkative.

“I know it’s frustrating, but hang in there, it won’t take long.”

“…….”

“He said he’d help, so we’ll find a way.”

Yeon-young stretched out her small, delicate hand in her direction.

At the same time, she could see the silhouette of a man over her shoulder. He was walking this way.

The sunlight reflected off of him, making his features more and more clear.

As soon as she saw his flowing blonde hair, Yeon-young recognized him.

It was Ryu Won.

Looking at the memory, Yeon-young swallowed in confusion.

Ryu Won wasn’t the only one she met. Jung Jaeho was there too. There was Jung Jaeho.

The three of them had met in Tanato in the past, and Jaeho and Ryu Won must already know about this memory.

So why can’t they tell Yeon-young anything about the memory?

Ryu-won stood there, just as he had in Yeon-young’s dream.

“It’s not a dream, it’s a memory.”

She felt like she had finally taken a step forward with a strong conviction.

The dreams she’d had since she was twenty hadn’t been imaginary, just fragments of memories.

She rubbed one of her shoulder blades gently.

“Slys wants to see you.”

“Ah, I should go. Thanks for telling me.”

Ryu Won offered a shallow smile in return. He left a light kiss on her shoulder.

She blushed behind the tips of her ears and turned toward the field.

When Ryu Won realized she was out of sight, his face stiffened. He stared at this place with a cold face.

It was an unfamiliar expression.

“Don’t be greedy anymore.”

“…….”

“Your greed endangers everyone. Just this distance. Stay within the lines.”

The words were uncharacteristically cold.

As if he had said all he needed to say, he turned and walked in the direction Yeon-young had left.

Possessed by Jaeho, Yeon-young felt mixed emotions. Anger mixed with desire that boiled from her toes.

The pull was too strong to restrain, and her vision grew blurry.

The memory ended with a small moan.

Jaeho was still burying his face in her hand. He lifted his head when Yeon-young gave her hand a little squeeze.

“We’ve all met in the past, in Tanato.”

“Did you get it right this time?”

“You two already knew each other, didn’t you?”

“Kim Yeon-young, choose me this time.”

“What are you talking about?”

“If you choose Ryu Won in this life too, you’re an idiot.”

“What?”

“He’s always failed to save you. Will it be different this time?”

Listening, Yeon-young furrowed her brow and gently pushed Jaeho away.

He stepped back obediently this time.

She braced herself at the waist and stood stiffly in place.

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“It means, on the contrary, that I’m ready to throw everything at you.”

“What the hell is this all about?”

Unlike Yeon-young, who was filled with confusion, Jaeho’s face was calm.

Like a sea of sunshine, his smile was radiant. For a moment, the dreary northwestern mountains seemed to light up.

Yeon-young ruffled her hair and strode forward.

Jaeho followed silently, hands in his pants pockets.

“Kim Yeon-young.”

“Wait. Just don’t say my name until you find where the Sly is. I need to think.”

His voice sounded gravelly, but Jaeho didn’t throw up anymore.

There were too many unexpected things in his memories. Her mind was overloaded.

Where to begin and how to organize the situation?

“We were intertwined by something in the past, in Tanato.”

Ryu Won had told Jaeho not to be greedy. Jaeho felt a certain anger at his words.

What kind of greed was Ryu Won talking about, and why was Jaeho so angry?

What did the past Yeon-young mean when she said she would find a way to help Jaeho with something?

Each memory brought up a new set of questions.

In the end, reading Jaeho’s memories, she learned nothing cool. She chewed her lip.

“Ha.”

No matter how many times she organized her memories, she could only sigh heavily.

Beep.

As she walked mindlessly down the street, her bracelet beeped as she got closer and closer to the coordinates. Before she knew it, she was surrounded by thick smoke.

Feeling a little freaked out, Yeon-young swallowed hard and nervously checked her bracelet. If she entered the danger zone, the communication would be cut off.

She could feel Jaeho’s back close to hers. He, too, seemed to be remembering her kidnapping by the Snarl.

The smoke completely blurred her vision.

Yeon-young pushed forward, relying solely on her bracelet.

Luckily, the bracelet didn’t fail her this time. If there was a problem, she could use the emergency button to return to the center.

“Uh, I think we’re there.”

“Where?”

As she approached the red dot on the bracelet, Yeon-young stopped walking.

The smoke that had been obscuring their vision like a mirage gradually dissipated, revealing a mountain field to the northwest.

Still to the northwest, the fields were barren and lifeless.

Nevertheless, a small white Slys popped out of the grass and greeted them.

“Hey, kids, I’m home.”

Yeon-young looked at them and breathed a sigh of relief.

All the while, Jaeho remained silent, staring intently at her tiny hand.
