The Prince Seduces Me with His Body Chapter 138
“Diana!” At that moment, Kayden forgot that Diana was hiding her identity and screamed. It was a reflex he couldn’t control.
The distance between Kayden and Diana was too far for him to help. But fortunately, Diana heard Kayden’s shout and barely managed to dodge the monster.
Rip-! However, the monster’s teeth caught the side of her hood, tearing it. The hood and mask that had concealed her face fell away, revealing Diana’s features for all to see.
For a brief moment, silence descended over the chaos. Then, like a snowball gaining momentum, the whispers grew louder.
“Isn’t that… third princess consort?”
“But I heard the third princess consort wasn’t an elementalist…”
“Why would she hide the fact that she’s an elementalist?”
“Come to think of it, that person, no, the third princess consort’s power is just like…”
The air was filled with speculation, and amidst the rising murmurs came the words Diana had dreaded most.
“Doesn’t her power feel similar to the monsters?”
Someone’s hushed voice pierced through the noise, sharp and clear in her ears. Diana’s heart sank as an eerie echo resonated in her mind.
“Witch!”
“Guild Master!” Mizel rushed forward, draping her cloak over Diana in an attempt to shield her. But that only fueled further suspicion.
Until now, the knights had refrained from questioning Diana’s unfamiliar abilities. The threat posed by Duke Findlay had been greater, and Kayden had vouched for her. The urgency of victory had made them overlook the unease and fear they felt toward her power. But now that her face was revealed and the fact that she had hidden something became clear, all the suppressed doubts began to resurface louder than before.
“W-Why would she hide her face unless she had something to fear?”
“I’ve never heard of a spirit with such an attribute…”
“And those monsters that can only be hurt by her power… what if it’s because her power is like theirs?”
Sometimes, scattered words can accidentally hit upon the truth.
Diana, who had nearly lost herself in past memories, forced herself to focus. She had to protect Kayden. With that thought, she gathered her strength. Surviving comes first. She told herself to ignore the noise. She had known that revealing her identity was a risk from the moment she decided to join the battle.
I’ll worry about the rest after surviving this. Blocking out the murmurs around her, Diana stood up. She gave Mizel a faint smile and gently pushed her aside. “Thank you, Mizel. But could you help pull the knights back instead?”
“…You’re not planning to do something reckless, are you? Like sacrificing yourself.”
“Of course not. The demonic dragon is probably like the slimes we fought before. If I can land the first blow, the others should be able to exploit the weak spot. I’ll just create an opening and then fall back. The decisive blow will be Kayden’s.”
“That still sounds dangerous… but I trust you. Come back safely.”
“I will.”
Having experienced death once, Diana understood the value of life better than anyone. And now, with many precious people around her, including Kayden, she had no intention of dying.
Diana smiled brightly, nodded, and tied her hair back tightly. She took a deep breath, then looked up at the wall where the demonic dragon was rampaging.
Boom! Bang! The demonic dragon continued its rampage atop the wall, smashing everything in its path. Its behavior suggested it was wiping out the nearby humans before advancing further.
“Diana!”
Just then, Kayden and the knights of the fourth order rushed over to her. He scanned her worriedly, his face pale.
“Are you alright?”
“Yes. What about you, Kayden?”
“I’m fine, as long as you’re safe. But that demonic dragon…” Kayden glanced toward the wall. There were barely ten soldiers left standing atop it. He spoke in a low voice. “It seems like only dark-attributed spirit power can hurt it. You’re already pushing yourself—are you sure you can handle it?”
Though she forced a smile, Diana had used up about half of her mana for summoning countless Hillasa to protect Kayden and the knights earlier. Though not as powerful as Kayden, she had also been born with a vast mana reserve, but this level of mana usage was a first for her. Still, holding Kayden’s hand made her feel a little better. She tightened her grip on his hand and answered.
“I’ll try to strike its vital point. After that, I’ll leave the rest to you and the knights.”
“…Alright. Leave it to us.”
Kayden fought to suppress the frustration building within him. Seeing Diana’s pale face while knowing he had to rely on her pained him deeply. He wanted to be her strength, not her burden, yet he felt powerless.
“Please cover me.”
Kayden nodded silently, dismissing his sword and picking up a bow instead. Diana wasted no time and summoned Yuro, climbing onto its back. With its head held high, Yuro let out a long howl and began leaping over the heads of the monsters. Meanwhile, Kayden and the fourth order kept a reasonable distance from Diana, providing cover with their arrows and blades.
Clinging tightly to Yuro’s mane as they jumped from one monster to another, Diana whispered. “Yuro, can you sense it like last time? Look for the spot where the scent is strongest.”
<Probably the eyes and under the wings. Are you sure you’re okay?>
Yuro sniffed the air as it landed on a still-standing portion of the wall. Below them, the fortress lay in ruins, bloodstains barely visible among the rubble.
<That monster’s crushed most of the corpses. There’s not enough left to pay me properly.>
“…It can’t be helped. We’ll have to strike quickly and retreat.”
Just as Diana murmured those words, a purple line appeared on her wrist. Blood dripped down her pale skin, and Yuro clicked its tongue before licking it.
<It’s a race against time.>
I know.
Diana had no energy to spare for a response. She pressed her lips together and focused all her remaining power. Yuro, sensing her thoughts, stayed silent and leaped off the wall.
Just as the demonic dragon finished slaughtering the last humans atop the wall and began searching for more prey, Yuro landed on its tail. Compared to the demonic dragon’s massive body, they were insignificant. But the monster felt the strange presence and began thrashing about.
Kwaak! The demonic dragon stomped and flailed, trying to shake them off. Yuro dodged the flying debris and sprinted toward the demonic dragon’s head.
There won’t be many chances.
They needed to strike hard and fast. The demonic dragon was far stronger than the slimes they had fought before. Diana took a deep breath and sharpened her remaining power.
The demonic dragon turned its head, opening its jaws to devour them. Yuro jumped off the demonic dragon’s teeth and shouted. <Now!>
Slash- Timing her strike with Yuro’s leap, Diana unleashed a slash of purple mana at the demonic dragon’s left eye, slicing it in half.
Kieeeek! The demonic dragon roared in agony, thrashing wildly. Yuro dodged its swinging tail and rushed toward its wing.
Just as they reached the base of the demonic dragon’s wing, Diana leaped off Yuro’s back and slashed the hidden skin beneath the wing. As she jumped, Yuro quickly dove below to catch her.
The demonic dragon let out an even louder scream, thrashing about as dark purple blood sprayed from its wound. They had succeeded.
Diana shouted. “It’s done! We need to retreat now…!”
Her mana was nearly depleted, and the price for borrowing Yuro’s power was weighing heavily on her. She felt dizzy and knew they had to get away from the demonic dragon before she lost consciousness.
But just then, the demonic dragon’s long-folded wings slowly unfurled. They were massive, stretching wide enough to cover the entire fortress.
It can… fly? As that thought crossed her mind, the demonic dragon swung its wings.
Thwack-! Diana and Yuro were helplessly flung into the air by the powerful blow.
