BJ Villainess Chapter 167

* * *

While the outside world was in chaos, the devil Clyde had been searching his mother’s castle all day. The answer he was looking for was simple.

Can a demon have a child with a human? He quickly found the answer that they could not. So how did he come to exist as the only half-human, half-demon in this world? The answer still remained unanswered.

There seemed to be no date because the demon who tried to do such a crazy thing didn’t exist so far. However, deep down, there was something he was thinking about as a way to make it possible.

If he had been an archangel. And for some reason, his mother had conceived his soul.

What a crazy family. It was a family that didn’t make sense, but he kept becoming convinced about it.

Memories of Ilya flashed through his mind, how he had treated him, how different it was from others. He had thought Ilya appreciated his genius and took him as a disciple, but perhaps there was more to it.

Clyde sat down, throwing a note to the floor with an exhausted expression. He ran his dry hand over his face.

“There was a twin…”

The archangel who ruled the heavenly world had a twin who wasn’t publicly active; thus, no official record existed. But Clyde felt like he knew who it was. He had seen him in a vision.

Until then, he thought his appearance was due to his mother’s bloodline. Members of the Willow family with strong magical powers often had silver hair and blue eyes. They all looked beautiful. He thought his cold, distant features were a family trait. But only Clyde looked different. He thought it was because he resembled Lillith, the king of dream demons., known for her flamboyant appearance.

Clyde suddenly laughed. “Why do I feel so filthy?” He couldn’t understand why he felt so downcast.

Neither human, demon, nor angel. What should he call himself?  His existence felt like a forced puzzle piece in a picture that didn’t fit. Then isn’t he just a toy?

This is why they find me horrible. Clyde reflected on how humans reacted to him. Their responses were divided into two: either being enchanted in the prison of dream and losing their sanity or instinctively repulsing demons. Ah, there was one more- being terrified upon knowing his true identity. These reactions were familiar to him from the times his memories existed, so he had forgotten to count them.

He kept laughing. All he could do was laugh. He thought he was different from the human Clyde, believing he had a real family called Lillith.

“Did you search everything?”

At that time, Lillith approached him with a voice full of affection. It was an attitude that she already knew what he was looking for.

“Mom had a hard day, Clyde. I got in trouble with that madman today for no reason.”

Her voice, which sounded somewhat unique, as if it were directly transmitted to the mind, was normal here in the demon world. She sat beside him, hugging his shoulder and stroking his head. Clyde could sense her wanting to play family, but he wasn’t in the mood to play along.

“Why did you give birth to me?”

“Oh my, what kind of question is that? Do you know how hard Mom tried to have you?”

Still smiling, Clyde looked at Lillith and said, “If you needed a toy, you should have put a soul into a doll.”

Lillith looked upset at the comment. But Clyde knew she wasn’t really upset but was faking her expression.

“Isn’t that too harsh to your own mom?”

Was he too harsh? But he couldn’t comfort her, knowing she had abandoned him in the human world because he was too troublesome to bring to the demon world.

He knew if he had been a demon, she would have taken him. But he was Clyde, regardless of being a human or demon. The demon part of him vehemently denied this connection yet acknowledged deep down that he and his human half were the same person. It was strange that he never thought of that. How can he completely erase the idea of being the same person when he feels the same emotions and shares the gaze?

Suddenly, his heart throbbed painfully. “Uurgh…” He broke out in a cold sweat as he felt the wound where Lillith’s nails had been dug were tearing open.

Lillith, seeing her son in sudden pain, tried to check on him with a surprised eye. “What’s wrong? Are you in pain?”

“Get your hands off me…”

“What’s wrong with you? Mom is…”

“Hands off!”

Clyde slapped Lillith’s hand away even as he gasped for air. Taking advantage of his weakened mind, the sleeping human Clyde was trying to take over. He felt like he was going crazy. It was a freedom that he managed to gain, but it could not be taken away in vain like this.

Why should I be deprived of my body when I’m real? Why should I be in a position where I’m just watching? Why on earth?

Clyde shook off Lillith, who was trying to hold him back, and returned to the human world.

Gasp… gasp…

He stumbled like a drunk, confused by the boiling heat, and sat leaning against the door of the dormitory.

“Theresa…” In a subdued voice, he called out the name of the owner of the dormitory he came to. But he already knew she wasn’t here.

Recalling that she had left with Ilya made him angry and sad. Clyde went to Theresa’s bedroom and lay on her bed. His action of stroking the blanket as if to feel her warmth that didn’t exist was stupid.

He quietly stroked the blanket in the dark and opened his mouth. “I didn’t know you were an angel, Zakari.”

“…”

Zakari has been watching Clyde from the moment he returned to the human world.

Clyde asked with a smirk. “Did you and I know each other?”

“Yes.”

“Were you watching over me to kill me?”

“If necessary.”

“That’s so heartless. I guess we weren’t friends.”

“…”

“Do you want me to tell you one thing?”

“What is it?”

“Demon cannot cry out of sadness.”

Clyde murmured, burying his face in the pillow. “God took away our tears, so we demons can’t cry. That’s why you shouldn’t trust a demon’s tears. They are fake.”

However, as a half-demon, he was able to shed tears of sadness.

“Damn it.”

He hated his imperfect self, crying with red eyes, and wished for death.

I had a good night’s sleep. I woke up feeling completely refreshed, with no need for any other description.

“Am I in the duchy?”

The bedding, clearly of high quality used in the duchy, felt incredibly soft against my skin. Moreover, the sunlight filtering into the room was clear and bright, not the murky purple I was accustomed to. The scent in the room was sweet and gentle, the sensations I had longed for. My heart, weary from exhaustion, felt healed.

“I’m back home.”

Home, where I’m always welcome.

Although I didn’t cry, my nose tingled as I whimsically rubbed my cheek against the blanket. It was a childlike gesture seeking assurance that this wasn’t a dream. But I can’t help it. The dream was too long.

It was a tough dream. I had struggled every moment to survive, to save others, leaving me mentally exhausted. When I reached my limit, a white butterfly appeared.

Suddenly remembering Libby, I sat up abruptly. “Did Libby also get a butterfly?”

It was an ability not included in the settings. How could this have happened? What kind of connection had formed between us?

When I was full of questions, I noticed the quest window.

Ding!

[Quest: Professor Felix’s request to subdue the ghost monster completed.]

Reward: Obtain 10 or more rare magical plants

“I wonder if there are any rare plants left to take from the greenhouse after that mess.”

As I mumbled worriedly, the constellations, which had been quiet for some reason, began to pour out their sponsorship enthusiastically.

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Ilthere or Go Die’ has sponsored 1,000,000 coins.]

[Don’t worry, your husband has taken care of everything ^^ Just choose what you want.]

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Crazy Professor Ilya’ has sponsored 1,000,000 coins.]

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Damian, My Golden Child’ has sponsored 1,000,000 coins.]

[Damian will never die.]

When I was unconscious, it seemed Ilya had been up to something. A sense of unease began to creep over me when Eloise entered the bedroom.

“Lady!”

As soon as Eloise saw me wake up, she ran with tears in her eyes. Then she hugged my waist tightly, almost cracking my ribs.

“Did you get stronger while I wasn’t looking…?”

“It was only a day without seeing you, so what are you talking about! What on earth did the demon do to Lady! Sob!”

Only a day? But I felt so refreshed after just that amount of sleep?

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Absolutely Protect Squire’ has sponsored 1,000,000 coins.]

[Feed our girl lots of delicious food, Eloise ㅠㅠ.]

I patted Eloise on the back until she barely stopped crying and suddenly asked. “Come to think of it, what about school? Aren’t I supposed to go today?”

Looking at the time, if I prepare diligently from now on, I think I will be able to take the second lecture.

“Don’t worry about that. The professor said you should rest as much as you want.”

“Professor Ilya did?”

“Yes! He said he would handle the demon appearance case himself.”

“Really…?”

I felt even more uneasy.

“I need to wash up for now.”

It was when I got up from my seat and went out to the sun setting to find out the current situation. When Eloise didn’t follow, and I turned around, I noticed the butterfly wings still attached to my shadow.

I cautiously pointed at them and asked, “Do you see these?”

“Yes…!” Eloise’s eyes sparkled intensely. She seemed to be holding back, wanting to mention the butterfly wings first.

  1. Everything is so chaotic right now, I love it. 🤣 I hope we get to see a picture of those wings, I’m having a hard time conceptualizing it but it sounds pretty.
